Hey, "Sweet Neo Con" is pretty damn good

Always skeptical when landed gentry like Mick Jagger make political statements, I was surprised by what a muscular track this is. Direct, no-bullshit, with a great groove and the slashing guitars of Richards and Jagger.

Does it go to the tune of "Sweet Caroline"

retroman, Wednesday, 7 September 2005 12:50 (twenty years ago)

so it's their best album since Some Girls, then?

Zack Richardson (teenagequiet), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 13:20 (twenty years ago)

How do they do it? They're STILL the greatest rock'n'roll band in the world!

You're so incredibly wrong. It's absolutely retarded Halliburton-porn. Any jack-ass 12 yr old could write this.

SWEET NEO CON
(M. Jagger/K. Richards)

You call yourself a Christian
I think that you're a hypocrite
You say you are a patriot
I think that you're a crock of shit

And listen now, the gasoline
I drink it every day
But it's getting very pricey
And who is going to pay

How come you're so wrong
My sweet neo con.... Yeah

It's liberty for all
'Cause democracy's our style
Unless you are against us
Then it's prison without trial

But one thing that is certain
Life is good at Haliburton
If you're really so astute
You should invest at Brown & Root.... Yeah

How come you're so wrong
My sweet neo con
If you turn out right
I'll eat my hat tonight

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah....

It's getting very scary
Yes, I'm frightened out of my wits
There's bombers in my bedroom
Yeah and it's giving me the shits

We must have lots more bases
To protect us from our foes
Who needs these foolish friendships
We're going it alone

How come you're so wrong
My sweet neo con
Where's the money gone
In the Pentagon

Yeah ha ha ha
Yeah, well, well

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...
Neo con

Don't worry, Mick, we're not laughing with you, we're laughing at you.

Who cares about JUST the lyrics? Any lyrics look stupid on the page. It's the performance.

"It's getting very pricey"

All that's missing is a little: and you know I’m satisfied

Results 1 - 10 of about 135,000 for slashing guitars. (0.32 seconds)
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,630,000 for muscular track. (0.26 seconds)
Results 1 - 10 of about 8,250,000 for great groove. (0.19 seconds)

"Sweet Neo Con" is one of the crappier Mick songs on the album (which are still better than the crappy Keith songs, like the one at the end that sounds like Dave Matthews.) I am LOVING "Look What the Cat Dragged In," though, and 3 or so other tracks (at least.)

mooterhead ? You're a moronicpoopoohead.

Do basic rock/blues acts really try to write
sophisticated lyrics ? No, they usually do not. They
try to verbalize in a primitive, gutteral
fashion...and you should judge them accordingly. The
question is, does the song ROCK, does
it get it's anti-neocon theme across to
most listeners ?

I heard something called "Big Relief", I think, - only thing I've heard off the new album so far - while driving today and LOVED it. Guitars on that sound awesome.
