Thanks, Ned. These are great!

― j. rosenberg (pukeandburn), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

:-) I'm sorry about the overexposure for yer band's shots!

― Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Well done, Ned! (and cool, Sonic Youth played "Mote"!)

― Legroom at the Vista (Bent Over at the Arclight), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Np they look great, especially that nice one of Becky smiling!

Yeah, I loved the fact they played "Mote," that's long been The Greatest Sonic Youth Song Nobody Talks About As Such and the fact that it's become a standard in their set over the years confirms it.

Becky's got a winning way about her. V. photogenic!

The singer for The Night Porter is Carla Bozulich from The Geraldine Fibbers, just so you know.

― mama brain, Wednesday, 7 September 2005 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Well knock me over with a feather, I didn't recognize her at all! This speaks more to my failing memory than anything else. (I still remember the Ethyl Meatplow shows I saw with fondness.)

Here are some more Arthur pics:

The final one is the aftermath of Greg from Sunn o))) going apeshit after the theater power cut on them and toppling the house system off both ends of the stage.

Hey ned ever heard of this thing called the search function? ;-)

― Herb Cornell, Wednesday, 7 September 2005 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

When I heard that Sunn knocked over some amp stacks I assumed that it was their own amps. They actually kicked down the speakers from the PA system?

― walter kranz (walterkranz), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, I are envious that you got to see the SK. I am grabbing a bit of the vicaria, however, from your entertaining photo+captions!

― Leeeeeeeee (Leee), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, was the theater's PA. Shame, Xasthur appeared for the first time ever to sing with them and was really getting the place eviled-up when everything cut.

Hey ned ever heard of this thing called the search function? ;-)

Considering I posted a link back to this thread FROM that thread, you are not only a poor imitator but a fool. Enjoy. ;-)

― Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 8 September 2005 00:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Brian, you were DJing at the festival right? Which stage and times did you play?

― walter kranz (walterkranz), Thursday, 8 September 2005 01:22 (twenty-one years ago)

yep -- main stage after Carla Bozulich and between Comets on fire and Juan MacLean.

― Brian Turner (btwfmu), Thursday, 8 September 2005 02:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh ok, I heard part of your set between Comets and Juan. Good stuff!

― walter kranz (walterkranz), Thursday, 8 September 2005 04:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I have to admit I walked away and gave up on Juan MacLean when he was saying stuff like "I have to take a piss. Are you playing Arthur Russell?"

― walter kranz (walterkranz), Thursday, 8 September 2005 04:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I was near the control booth between ConF and TJM also, I think I liked what you were playing.

I just got a flickr account and loaded the better of my pics, go easy on me.

A sneak preview of the second day pics I have -- Brad Laner in concert. Kept the aperture open for a couple of seconds and let the electronic collage he created overlap on the exposure -- result!

dude walter, juan mclean did come on stage acting like a dickhead(and late iirc) but he made the mountain vibrate, that was a dope set. My biggest complaint I had about the whole festival was having to miss amazing shit to go see other amazing shit.

― tremendoid (tremendoid), Thursday, 8 September 2005 05:52 (twenty-one years ago)

like that (xpost)
