These guys sound rather derivative, but that probably means we'll be hearing more from them in a year.

Is El Goodo some sort of elaborate homage to Eleventh Dream Day? They've even got a song called "Honey".

Why, will bands be more derivative in a year?

No idea. They do sound like a band without any original ideas, though. They'd go well with The Magic Numbers.

derivative=taking your name from a Big Star song

I quite like them. They're the laziest band in the world so I doubt you'll hear much from them without making a concerted effort

I love em!

They're quite into their Elephant 6 too. I've a great demo from two years ago that sounds quite like the Zombies' Odessey and Oracle.

Louie_Strychynine, Friday, 9 September 2005 09:06 (twenty years ago)

They are *very* into E6 innit... I'm sure one of them showed me an E6-related tattoo he'd had done, some years back, but the porous memory can't recall any more detail :(

Whereabouts are you from DJ Mencap? Are you from Resolven?

Did you see El Goodo when they supported Beulah in Resolven a few years back? That was a cracking gig where the whole village turned up!

Louie_Strychnine, Friday, 9 September 2005 12:19 (twenty years ago)

Interesting, they're on SFA's label.

I live in Cardiff Louie. I post on Choke. I think we are vaguely aware of each other.

That thing in Resolven was funny as shit and I don't even like Beulah.

Is Choke like Clique for the cool kids?

princess amalada, Saturday, 10 September 2005 17:21 (twenty years ago)

There's too many concepts here for me to juggle, sorry :(

Dull. JAMC meets B.Wilson innit? They're supporting the SFAs tonight, but I can't summon up much enthusiasm to get there early.

fifteen years pass...

holy fuck are these guys good at what they're doing on By Order of the Moose and on Zombie. that's all i've listened to so far. it's sorta overwhelming. the songs work on their own, they are very good, but the endless perfect pastiche. what to do with it.

pence's eye juice (Hunt3r), Tuesday, 23 March 2021 04:13 (four years ago)

By Order of the Moose is SO good.

three years pass...

The Eggmen Whoooooo! are a lot of fun. Same singer-songwriter from El Goodo. One of my favorites this year:

And I guess he also released a pretty good solo album a couple years ago too:

I really dig it. Much more garage than baroque, if that's what El Goodo were. I think they could do wit ha better band name, though. Not sure if it's meant to be Beatles worship or some wholly original in joke.
