Capone's is definately not always crowded. It's a struggle. Last night was one of the better fridays, the CD release party and the press we got for it probably helped, but still not as good as the best saturdays before the summer, that we're trying to get back to. But I judge soley based on the density of the dancefloor. It's also been weird these last 2 weekends because they're doing construction on the outside smoking lounge out back, which really changes the vibe, and leaves less space for people to hang out. Because of this, the pool table area was sorta closed off as well.
As far as douches, yeah, definately, but I think objectively, there's a healthy mix of people, good and bad, and that makes for a more interesting scene then something more homogenous.
What is REALLY lame is theft is becoming a problem, which has happened at every party that becomes successfull/crowded. Last saturday AND last night shit got stolen. My friend came last night for her birthday and danced the night away, staying after most of her friends. She left her bag with us by the DJ booth where it was "safe", and it was gone at 3am. We think we know at least the method of how it was stolen and will be more careful in the future, somebody grabbed it through the gates by the DJs feet. I'm going to ask them to put wood panels up there.
And if Rich reads this thread...hope you were still there when we played the little House we did...Tom's Diner went over as well as expected.

Classic. Fridays and Saturdays there are my favorite weekend parties, though I haven't been in a while.

not sure who joe or bryce are, but saturday night's guest DJ is Scott Zacharais, who hosts a weekly party sundays at the Detroit Eagle in....Detroit. It is a gay leather bar. It is the most amazing place I've ever seen, they have all these huge banners like in a high-school gym, each denoting a certain group/gang. I only remember the Motor City Bears, featuring a giant grizzly bear holding a car wheel. There was a St. Andrews cross on the small dancefloor, a model train that circled above the bar, and a middle aged homosexual told me I dj'd "like I have an old soul" and tipped me 5 dollars. Amazing.
