why is it that all these men and women are so unfriendly and rude towards musicians like marissa who are supportive of their talent?
why do they feel they are above her and why are they are so mean, unfriendly and rude? why do they feel they superior to other people?
why do they feel they are too good to be speaking to people like marisa? why do they feel they are more talented then she is?
let us examine this?

whenever I hear the name Bela Fleck and the Flecktones I think of Murph and the Magic Tones

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 19:34 (eighteen years ago)

uh, i think of marissa and the marissa fans.

that and the jacksonville jazz fests of the 80s, where chick and bela met

PappaWheelie V, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 19:37 (eighteen years ago)

That Fleck/Corea disc is horrifyingly bad.

That Fleck/Corea disc is horrifyingly bad.

You people don't have any tech.

Jon Lewis, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

What does that mean?

We never them.

xpost to Hurting--

A perhaps overly-obscure joke. With the mention of Chick Corea, I couldn't resist some Scientology humor.

It's something they say about non-Scientologists, especially evil, evil practitioners of psychology/psychiatry. "Tech" is what they call their own Scientology training.

Jon Lewis, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

get back to marissa luvin

PappaWheelie V, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 18:26 (eighteen years ago)

Surely having Marissa and Scientology on one convenient thread together is a good thing.

Jon Lewis, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 18:35 (eighteen years ago)

Marissa had her issues, but sometimes she was the most OTM poster on ILM.

Why are so many musicians into batshit ideas? Today J8ck DeJ0hn3tte (I know google-proofing is silly but I admire the guy) was on the radio and he sounded so thoughtful and smart and then he started saying something about writing music for his wife's "vibration healing" -- it's no Scientology but still

Hurting 2, Thursday, 24 May 2007 04:05 (eighteen years ago)

xpost, marissa had(has?) more than her share of issues, it seems

probably safe to say she was given an unduly burden of issues to begin with. no one should have to cart that around.

Why are so many musicians into batshit ideas?

Yeah. Google up some info about Richard Lloyd's new solo project, for which he's severing his ties with Television. It sounds on paper like some serious millenialist jamband mystical ack.

Jon Lewis, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:48 (eighteen years ago)

I have his first solo album.

It sounds unerringly like Nick Lowe.

Mark G, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:57 (eighteen years ago)

He's calling his current backing band the Sufi Monkeys. The Sufi Monkeys, I ask you!

Journalists are "not allowed" to refer to his new album by its full name, only by its initals R___M___.

Jon Lewis, Thursday, 24 May 2007 15:03 (eighteen years ago)

Bela's been nothing but friendly when I've talked to him.
I do miss Marissa though.
