$40 on amazon

Damn, I love that album, but it may be time to sell. I think I found my copy used for about 6 bucks last year.

wmlynch (wlynch), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 00:29 (twenty years ago)

those prices don't really mean squat unless someone actually buys them (which seems unlikely to me as this album is piss easy to find secondhand)

jimmy glass (electricsound), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 00:31 (twenty years ago)

the ebay rule applies as much to this as anything else... i've seen that chapterhouse greatest hits/rarities 2cd go for $250. for a cd. that's completely insane. i've also seen it go for $90. and $40.

same shit for against perfection. i found a cd store in paris that had all these rare shoegaze cd's. i bought them and posted them on ebay, thinking i'd make a killing. i'm pretty sure i ended up losing money.

and no, it's not worth $75.

milosz, Wednesday, 14 September 2005 00:52 (twenty years ago)

It is however very good. So I will play my copy right now.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 00:57 (twenty years ago)

i never liked adorable, i think it was mostly down to the interviews.
argh, i am now reading that mahogany's album is now pushed back to april.

keith m (keithmcl), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 01:31 (twenty years ago)

when you're making the record to crush the cult of loveless, sometimes tthere can be delays

jimmy glass (electricsound), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 01:33 (twenty years ago)

it was supposed to come out in 2003

keith m (keithmcl), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 01:35 (twenty years ago)

On track with Loveless, then.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 01:36 (twenty years ago)

but now i read that the june brides 2xcd reissue is finally out next month.

keith m (keithmcl), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 01:37 (twenty years ago)

Actually speaking of reissues I just got the latest LTM mailout....

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 01:38 (twenty years ago)

loks like the Northside reissue has been delayed until Nov. I hope there is not public disquiet as a result.

keith m (keithmcl), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 01:42 (twenty years ago)

Hey did Adorable release anything else worth hearing?

wmlynch (wlynch), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 02:20 (twenty years ago)

Back in the day (last year and earlier) you could find like all of Adorable's stuff on a fan site for download. I can't imagine that the CD is worth quite that much in this day and age. Except maybe to a completist or something. Though if you were an Adorable completist it is likely going to be an expensive slog by now.

gspm (gspm), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 02:23 (twenty years ago)

wasn't there a second album? and then there was Polak. don't know if any of it was essential.
x-post

keith m (keithmcl), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 02:24 (twenty years ago)

the second album was ok. polak released one good single (their first) and got progressively worse from there.

jimmy glass (electricsound), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 02:36 (twenty years ago)

Though if you were an Adorable completist it is likely going to be an expensive slog by now.

with a little patience i'm sure the lot could be had for under 50 smackers

jimmy glass (electricsound), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 02:37 (twenty years ago)

that reminds me, i have a flexi from when adorable were called the candy thieves, with a cute but kinda rubbish demo version of homeboy on it. wonder if it is worth anything? i got it for free from this nice guy i bought a grand worth of indie vinyl off..

jimmy glass (electricsound), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 02:38 (twenty years ago)

I've got all those downloads, made a little CDR out of 'em. V. handy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 03:23 (twenty years ago)

I think I sold my copy of it for less than a dollar, I'm sad to say.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 12:00 (twenty years ago)

I thought the 2nd album (Fake) was a bit crap really. Sold it on Ebay, got about £12 for it, which I was pretty surprised (and pleased) about!

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 14:05 (twenty years ago)

2nd album was great. a bit more understated, the brashness gone, a sense maybe of a moment passed,

terry lennox. (gareth), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 14:40 (twenty years ago)

three years pass...

come on, the b-sides, folks, Adorable B-sides.

think you're a fookin' bat, eh? (Bimble), Saturday, 7 February 2009 11:39 (seventeen years ago)

or A-sides mixed with the B-sides.

I used to have a promo Adorable t-shirt that a friend who worked at a record store gave me. It was a plane white tee with "Adorable" in small black print laid in a semi-circle around the shirt's front collar. I wore it in my 11th grade school photo. The photos were a big hit with my family, who enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek factor & still keep them around to this day.

Another promo item from the same friend (which I still have, inexplicably): a Gene "Sleep Well Tonight" pillowcase.

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Saturday, 7 February 2009 16:37 (seventeen years ago)

Hahahahhaah a Gene pillowcase LOLOLOLOLOL there is no hope for mankind, I think.

think you're a fookin' bat, eh? (Bimble), Saturday, 7 February 2009 16:55 (seventeen years ago)

*"plain white tee", duh. Don't judge me plz - I just woke up

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Saturday, 7 February 2009 17:03 (seventeen years ago)

Haha oh, that's okay, mate. Don't worry about it. I'm just being silly.

think you're a fookin' bat, eh? (Bimble), Saturday, 7 February 2009 17:40 (seventeen years ago)

one month passes...

Okay this band fucking rules.

Goth As A Moth (Bimble), Sunday, 8 March 2009 02:11 (sixteen years ago)

three years pass...

clearly not worth $75.
however, the price on amazon is still holding up.
so, clearly there is a demand for this rather wonderful album.
of all the creation material, i still think this is the one of the best albums the label put out.

(r.i.p bimble .. )

mark e, Sunday, 11 November 2012 18:59 (thirteen years ago)

I still love this album.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Monday, 12 November 2012 00:30 (thirteen years ago)

Go pick up the "Footnotes" best-of, it covers just about all you need.

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Monday, 12 November 2012 01:17 (thirteen years ago)

i actually saw Adorable live at the Whiskey A Go Go on the Sunset Strip. so much fun and think it their only appearance in the States. could have also played the East Coast but i'm not sure if that actually happened.

Bee OK, Monday, 12 November 2012 03:46 (thirteen years ago)

They played in Grand Rapids, MI around that time, so they must have done a full US tour.

suggest butt (Pillbox), Monday, 12 November 2012 03:49 (thirteen years ago)

i think i prefer fake. it sounds heavier.

brimstead, Monday, 12 November 2012 05:01 (thirteen years ago)

really though they should just throw out a 2 or 3 disc completist thing with all the bsides.
