I've always considered Plaid to be an all-time favourite act but then this is only because of the Restproof Clockwork album plus the first four songs on Double Figure and the odd remix or two. The rest of their catalogue can rot.
Surely then a favourite band should span a number of releases which I should enjoy? Or is this not true, as per the examples?

Ultramagnetic M.C's-critical beatdown (there are earlier 12"s like "mentally mad" and later 12"s like "chorus line" and "poppa large" remix but the "funk your head up" and "the horsemen" albums are lame and not worth owning).
Bad Brains-roir sessions ("black dots" is good but hardly essential, and anything post-"roir sessions" is too lumpen and proto-funk metal)
Black Sheep-a wolf in sheep's clothing (best Native Tongues album that isn't by ATCQ but their "non fiction" floow up was such a disappointmrnt).
Dag Nasty-can i say (after Dave Smalley left and Peter Cortner joined they became ghey).
Cro Mags-age of quarrel (classic NYHC but as soon as Bloodclot left and they went metal they sucked).
Hell No-skin job (still one of my favorite albums/bands from the early 90s but i doubt i'll ever listen to their 7" or 2nd album ever again).
Monster Magnet-spine of god (their next few albums were alright, i guess, but after John Mcbain left they lost their really nasty edge).
Snoop-doggystyle (alright so he's done a few amazing singles with The Neptunes and everything he touches that Dre produces is gold - "the chronic", "2001", tracks like "lay low" - but all his solo other albums are trash).
Raekwon-only built 4 cuban linx. ( probably my favorite rap album but this other two solo efforts are atrocious).

Aztec Camera. I mean, "Love" and "Dreamland" are both OK, but really, "High Land Hard Rain" is the only true gem.
― Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 12:52 (eighteen years ago)
