Was there a British synth pop band called "Screaming Trees"?

There's a track in my library called "Tangiers" credited to "Screaming Trees" that absolutely couldn't be by the Mark Lanegan-fronted band (it sounds like the Psychedelic Furs meet New Order). Am I just a victim of mis-labeling or was there another Screaming Trees?

I had the same problem once. Turned out there was another screaming trees. An english dance act.

I think they were from Sheffield. I have that song on an Indie Top 20 compilation. I didn't like it at all.

It's on one of those Beechwood Pride Of Independent UK Indie Top Hits comps.. Volume 20 I think? Also has The Shamen, The Snapdragons, Suicide, A Guy Called Gerald, The Wolfhounds, Christian Death, The Wedding Present, and the Colorblind James Experience.

This was my favorite high school CD ever.

Yeah I have that one, it's definitely not volume 20 though, that came out around Britpop, '96 or so, and was one of the last ones they did. I think the Pride of Independents one you're talking about was volume 6.

Aye, Vol 6, it also had Front 242's Headhunter on it.
