OK. I do know Earl King and I do know how good he is, but I don't have any of his stuff. Does anyone have this?

I don't have this particular album, but I do have a lot of the songs on it (EMI had an earlier Earl King best-of back in the 80's, and that's the compilation I have)...I recommend it, it's quality stuff.

yeah, the EMI disc was the essential Earl King. "Mama and Papa" and "Trick Bag" and "Come On" and all them. I'm sure the Imperial box is fine--but Earl, rest in peace, was a somewhat limited performer, if a fine songwriter. I recently saw him on a '74 Chicago Soundstage show, and he wasn't too hot somehow; and I saw him in Memphis in '91 where he was so drunk he played on one string and that one not so hot. But I love him in small doses, and I wonder if that EMI thing is still in print, 'cause it's great.
