I have no idea if Mr.Hall is currently of a good health or not. I hope he is happy and living well. I just tracked down a copy of his out of print autobiography and it was a terrific read. Many of his albums are hard to find at this point but the search is worth it (vinyl country sections at used stores). The albums are far better than all of the greatest hits collections they've churned out.
That's what I wanted to say this morning. Thanks for reading!

Maybe he should update "Watergate Blues" so it talks about the most recent presidential election. And maybe do a version of "Salute to a Switchblade" set in the middle east instead of Germany.
About the "stripped down and without much studio adornment or trickery," I don't care so much. Stripped down arrangements usually just lead to boredom anyway. Jazzy backup musicians would be nice.

Mostly what I meant by that comment was that I would rather not hear Tom T Hall as backed up by Korg Synthesizers like he was on "Songs From Sopchoppy" (Mercury, 1996). It made me sad. Really plastic sounding. Put a good producer in the booth and, yes, I don't really mind if it is not so stripped down.
