Allman Brothers. Anybody who's snickering, go score some really speedy acid, get involved in a really fucked up relationship, pick a fight and then drop the acid. Six hours from then put on the Allman Brothers and then tell me whether you're still snickering.

strangely, i've often found Polvo's This Eclipse to be good for this, though you wouldn't think so

Red House Painters. Depressive music has always worked as an anti- depressant for me. Kozelek's voice and lo-fi guitar work is so comforting. Kozelek's existential blues tells me that I am not so bad off.

Either leave on something mental and dancey or don't put anything and force yourself to sleep.

Camper Van Beethoven "She Divines Water" Butthole Surfers "Locust Abortion Technician" Steve Reich "Music for 18 Musicians" Flaming Lips "Hit to Death in the Future Head"

These were my college LSD faves.

Hank Williams was my LSD fave. That voice was something else.

All in one evening?

Six hours from then put on the Allman Brothers and then tell me whether you're still snickering

I wouldn't be snickering, I agree. I'd be saying, "What the fuck are these talking carrots doing making me listen to this? MEDIC!"

I don't think I have comedown music, then again I don't really indulge. If, as John suggests, the idea is unwinding from emotional turmoil, I might well have something to rely on, but damned if I can recall what it is. The last time I would have needed it was in September, and I just watched Jet Li's Fong Sai Yuk instead. Oh wait, I listened to the Squirrels -- but they're sorta hyperactive.
