Celluloid: France or New York?

Where was Celluloid based and who ran it?

I had thought originally it was Laswell. Clearly not. So is it French label with lots of New York acts and or a New York label with lots of french acts?

Same people as were behind Byg, the French label. But it definitely operated in both NYC and Paris. Eventually, they farmed it all out to another US label.

I'm not familiar with BYG. Did the parent label have a unifying sound as well? Or was it just a french major? Is there a website that will give a good history of Celluloid?

it was run by the notorious french geezer giorgio gomelsky (who also founded byg) was it not? the legality of many celluloid releases has been hotly disputed.
