blaze - "lovelee dae"
maw - "nervous track"
pepe braddock - "deep burnt"

etc etc.

i am trying to fill up 80 mins if possible.

strng hlkngtn (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 18 September 2005 23:34 (twenty years ago)

obv these arent connected directly, necessarily, but i trust you follow me.

strng hlkngtn (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 18 September 2005 23:34 (twenty years ago)

plastic dreams?

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 19 September 2005 00:01 (twenty years ago)

yeah i kinda thought about plastic dreams but it might be too "heavy"

strng hlkngtn (dubplatestyle), Monday, 19 September 2005 00:04 (twenty years ago)

i kinda want those giant rainforest clouds of synth if possible

strng hlkngtn (dubplatestyle), Monday, 19 September 2005 00:04 (twenty years ago)

pepe braddock - intrusion
panash - cheval

rio natsume, Monday, 19 September 2005 00:06 (twenty years ago)

Presence feat. Shara Nelson - Sense of Danger (Pepe Bradock Remix)

Mind Taker, Monday, 19 September 2005 00:20 (twenty years ago)

mr fingers to thread

noizem duke (noize duke), Monday, 19 September 2005 00:25 (twenty years ago)

on second thought, my suggestion might be too "sexy" considering what you're looking for, but I'll put up an YSI one of these days anyway (don't have it at hand right now).

Mind Taker, Monday, 19 September 2005 00:42 (twenty years ago)

"brighter days" - cajmere feat dajae (is this too ott?)

tricky (disco stu), Monday, 19 September 2005 00:50 (twenty years ago)

no rainforest clouds of synth in that one to be sure...

tricky (disco stu), Monday, 19 September 2005 00:50 (twenty years ago)

If you pick the Ron Trent and Chez Damier remix of that'n you're getting close, though.

Jacob (Jacob), Monday, 19 September 2005 00:53 (twenty years ago)

Can't Stop (Acid Rain Forest Mix) by Plez, it's the one on the Warp Influences comp.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 19 September 2005 00:59 (twenty years ago)

i am kinda struggling to articulate the feeling of what i am looking for beyond listing those tracks...kinda mid-tempo, loping, cycling, heavy drums but not really too foregrounded...deep house/trad house bass but not so frilly or disco-ish...the aforementioned synth clouds...just kinda clapped out on the back porch at 5pm as the sun goes down with a cocktail and a book on your chest and your kinda half falling asleep in that semi-buzzed narcotic drip kinda way. ummm...

strng hlkngtn (dubplatestyle), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:02 (twenty years ago)

i immediately thought of "my beat" by blaze too.

tricky (disco stu), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:02 (twenty years ago)

"my beat" is out!

tricky (disco stu), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:03 (twenty years ago)

so you want house that is the antithesis of house? heh.

how about "the deep" by global communication?

tricky (disco stu), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:08 (twenty years ago)

Not to go off on a Deep Burnt tangent, but you might want to check out Theo Parrish's "The Motor City" which uses the same Freddie Hubbard sample from "Little Sunflower." It's gots that trademark Theo "dusty record" EQing.

On topic, off the top of my head:

Round Two - New Day (Club Vocal Mix)
Caucasian Boy - Northern Lights (Laid Remix)
Amp Dog Knight - Over U
Peven Everett - I Can't Believe I Loved Her (Main Mix)
Paul Randolph - Idle Time
Michael Jackson - Rock With You (Frankie Knuckles Mix)

I should stop because I'm getting kind of jazzy!

xpost - but that may be good?

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:11 (twenty years ago)

round two is u+k.

i went harder and clubbier immediately because of "lovelee dae".

tricky (disco stu), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:15 (twenty years ago)

haha yeah tricky i was trying to avoid the dreaded c---- o--

clubby is not bad! i can fall asleep to death metal, so dont worry about the beats

strng hlkngtn (dubplatestyle), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:17 (twenty years ago)

it's actually weird that i find it easier to relax to stuff more commonly thought of as club music than sutff with the specific c---- o-- purpose in mind.

strng hlkngtn (dubplatestyle), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:21 (twenty years ago)

seriously dude check out "cheval" (unless you know it already). it's pretty much "deep burnt" part two. choppy without getting too glitchy (any glitch becomes so natural and warm that it ends up sounding like some tribal drum machine made from bamboo shoots), sweeping sino-strings and misty tropical synths. it makes your eyes go all fuzzy like when you've been driving with the heating on too high.

xxxp

rio natsume, Monday, 19 September 2005 01:22 (twenty years ago)

i am gonna look for it tonight.

strng hlkngtn (dubplatestyle), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:23 (twenty years ago)

"...going round" - herbert
"lonely" - jazzy (this will be hard to find)

tricky (disco stu), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:27 (twenty years ago)

while you're all here... "microhouse"/minimal techno POX.

Ian John50n (orion), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:29 (twenty years ago)

Hijacker!

Tricky what's "u+k?"

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:32 (twenty years ago)

urgent and key!

tricky (disco stu), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:33 (twenty years ago)

thanks!

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:33 (twenty years ago)

this thread would have more responses if you posted it as "hey my house niggas" instead of "hey my house motherfuckers."

Ian John50n (orion), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:39 (twenty years ago)

Romanthony - "Wreck"?
Dubtribe - "Sunshine's theme"
Kerri Chandler - "Powder"

Jacob (Jacob), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:48 (twenty years ago)

i am thinking that a bunch of carl craig tracks would work here too - stuff from more songs about food and revolutionary art

tricky (disco stu), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:52 (twenty years ago)

I:Cube - Pooh Pah

jeffery (jeffery), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:52 (twenty years ago)

Perhaps GTO - Pure ?

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:55 (twenty years ago)

abe duque feat. blake baxter - "what happened" (deep house mix)

tricky (disco stu), Monday, 19 September 2005 01:58 (twenty years ago)

aril brikha: 'groove la chord' 'way back' and 'on and on' !!!! ('way back' especially)

tylero (tylero), Monday, 19 September 2005 02:05 (twenty years ago)

I:Cube - Vacuum Jackers (Maurice Fulton Mix)!!

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 19 September 2005 02:13 (twenty years ago)

not that this is what you want but your description reminds me more of the halcyon days of "ambient house/techno", stuff like Tranquility Bass who's They Came In Peace i'm listening to right now and I wish I was on a porch during magic hour.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 19 September 2005 02:15 (twenty years ago)

mr. gill, never heard the frankie knuckles mix of mj, please email it to me...

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 19 September 2005 02:17 (twenty years ago)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 19 September 2005 06:16 (twenty years ago)

Ooh, just remembered

Northern Lights Orchestra - "Loverboy"
Evelyn Jean - "Town near you" (gritty city mix)

Jacob (Jacob), Monday, 19 September 2005 06:22 (twenty years ago)

Meh, also key:

Black Rascals feat Cassio Ware - "So in love"

Jacob (Jacob), Monday, 19 September 2005 06:24 (twenty years ago)

Jungle Wonz-The Jungle

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 19 September 2005 06:26 (twenty years ago)

Samurai - Jazztronik
New Jersey Deep - Black Science Orchestra

oats (oats), Monday, 19 September 2005 09:53 (twenty years ago)

Basic Channel featuring Andy Caine - New Day (Club Vocal Mix)

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Monday, 19 September 2005 12:07 (twenty years ago)

Earlier Theo Parish, like Sky Walking, Heal Yourself and Move, possibly Ebonics. 3 Chairs' Misty City, the Ron Trent mix of Rick Wilhite's Good Kiss, Larry Heard's Enchanted and Déjà Vu (which admittedly might be a little too Raydio-house for strongo's liking), Newworldaquarium's Trespassers (probably too techno), Faze Action's In the Trees, Transllusion's Dimensional Glide, Kaidi & Dego's Got Me Puzzled, the Scuba mix of Vikter Duplaix's City Spirits (no, seriously). As for Brikha, I'd go for Otill over the ones tylero mentioned. And, of course, Moodymann: any variation of Mahogany Brown, Oceans, In Loving Memory.

Speaking of I:Cube, there's a straight-up boogie track on their recent 12" that's brilliant.

Andy_K (Andy_K), Monday, 19 September 2005 12:50 (twenty years ago)

Parrish ungh

Andy_K (Andy_K), Monday, 19 September 2005 12:51 (twenty years ago)

strng hlkngtn (dubplatestyle), Monday, 19 September 2005 13:02 (twenty years ago)

tricky (disco stu), Monday, 19 September 2005 16:04 (twenty years ago)

tricky (disco stu), Monday, 19 September 2005 16:04 (twenty years ago)

mateo and matos - idris rises
16b - black hole
moodymann - joy pt.3
theo parrish - motor city (pisses all over the pepe braddock take)
larry heard - stuff from dance 2000 or alien
glenn underground - utopia-o-disco
umod
housier stuff on laws of motion and people records

jahquarius, Monday, 19 September 2005 16:29 (twenty years ago)

I'm surprised Dan didn't suggest Metro Area's Proton Candy

PappaWheelie B.C., Monday, 19 September 2005 16:44 (twenty years ago)

I don't think that fits the description.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 19 September 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

andy k's list is the business.

speaking of vikter duplaix, i've been REALLY REALLY feeling the "wahoo remix" of jazzanova's "that night" (feat vikter duplaix).

i am bummed i have been to busy to follow up on this thread.

vahid (vahid), Monday, 19 September 2005 16:58 (twenty years ago)

The MA track that comes closest is The Art of Hot, I think (and maybe I'm just saying that 'cause it's the best MA track).

Andy_K (Andy_K), Monday, 19 September 2005 17:08 (twenty years ago)

This comp:

http://www.discogs.com/release/24198

Also, Raze's "Break 4 Love" comes to mind -- perhaps not enough synth though.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Monday, 19 September 2005 18:01 (twenty years ago)

Ron Trent and Chez Damier - 54
(hard to find, but it appears on Ian Pooley's Exursions mix)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 19 September 2005 18:18 (twenty years ago)

Josh One-Contemplation (King Britt Funk Mix)

Glenn Underground-The Cheribums (I really really love this one)

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 19 September 2005 18:26 (twenty years ago)

More: Larry Heard's mix of Club Ice's Manhasset, Model 500's Starlight, Osborne's Hydragilm Exit.

Andy_K (Andy_K), Monday, 19 September 2005 18:39 (twenty years ago)

And more: Dub Poets' Blak and Whit, Rydims' Nice and Slow, Osunlade's Beloved.

Andy_K (Andy_K), Monday, 19 September 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

Cleptomaniacs - "Numero Uno"

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 19 September 2005 19:24 (twenty years ago)

Jerome Sydenham & Kerri Chandler - "Winter's Blessing"

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 19 September 2005 19:28 (twenty years ago)

Faze Action - "Moving Cities" and "Original Disco Motion"

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 19 September 2005 19:39 (twenty years ago)

Of course:
Logic - "The Warning"

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 19 September 2005 20:25 (twenty years ago)

Maybe too high energy, but the greatest track in this vein might be the Freeform Reform mix of "Beau Mot Plage".

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 19 September 2005 20:36 (twenty years ago)

here's Pepe Bradock's remix of Presence. like I've said, might not exactly be in the vein of this thread, but it's fantastic, swingin' sexy late-night stuff so get it:

lute bro (brimstead), Friday, 3 June 2016 18:36 (nine years ago)

'Stop and Listen 5' is still one of my favorite ever comps. All over the place, but nothing is out of place.
