If you were on some strange desert island with an internet connection that only allowed you to download from one mp3blog, which one would you choose?

I would pick Moistworks.

Sym Sym (sym), Monday, 19 September 2005 23:34 (twenty years ago)

20 jazz funk greats.

gabba

cocaine blunts has probably provided the most enjoyment of any of them.

20 Jazz Funk Greats seconded. Regular updates (which I can never manage), enjoyably unhinged style, fairly unpredictable track selections. And fuck, they introduced me to Emperor Machine and (IIRC) Holger Czukay's "Cool in the Pool."

Telephonething (Telephonething), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 01:19 (twenty years ago)

I'm a soulsides fan.

gspm (gspm), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 01:28 (twenty years ago)

20 jazz funk gr8s thirded. I used to be a pretty big fan of fluxblog, but I think matthew's taste might be a bit too pop-oriented for me (to each his own!). 20JFGs brings me the pop with the noize.

I also like gabba, but I preferred it when the music was just selected by jk, nick, and krg.

fluxblog baby!

teas-e, Tuesday, 20 September 2005 03:25 (twenty years ago)

does anyone know who bumrocks is? I envy his collection, with so many great instrumentals.

Jacobs (LolVStein), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 03:37 (twenty years ago)

are all just picking our own? if that's the case: useyrwords.blogspot.com

but for real, it's got to be: www.greenideasblog.com/molars

figs, Tuesday, 20 September 2005 05:17 (twenty years ago)

flux or mfr, it's hard to decide but in the end i'd probably pick flux

nervous (cochere), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 05:58 (twenty years ago)

Fluxblog

snowballing (snowballing), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 06:07 (twenty years ago)

Figs, thanks for the shout-out. you're too kind.

I'd be hard-pressed to decide between 20 Jazz Funk Greats and Said the Gramophone. I think my taste aligns more with XXJFG, but Sean, Jordan and Dan at StG are just tremendous writers. I'd probably go with Gramophone, just because it is so enjoyable to read.

Kevin H (Kevin H), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 06:09 (twenty years ago)

PRANCEHALL

kit brash (kit brash), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 07:19 (twenty years ago)

Either Fluxblog, Moistworks, STG, Green Pea-ness or Locust Street for old stuff.

If I was forced to pick one probably Moistworks for the variety of stuff it covers.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 08:00 (twenty years ago)

20jazzfunkgreats for me. lemon-red and razorblade runner are also personal faves.

bumrocks is looking pretty, er, red nowadays!

deaf leopard (haitch), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 08:19 (twenty years ago)

Bubblegum Machine

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 08:21 (twenty years ago)

Hey thanks Dom, I'm honoured!

Currently my desert island is receiving http://dubstep.blogspot.com/ but thinking about it I'd probably be better off with http://bumrocks.com/

Kenneth Trax, Tuesday, 20 September 2005 11:14 (twenty years ago)

top of my constant check list is spoilt victorian child.

http://www.spoiltvictorianchild.co.uk/

http://everythingisfire.com !

Great drone/psych/freakout blog. I can discover other music pretty easily through other sources (Stylus, ILM, etc), but that stuff is more difficult for me. Everything Is Fire is great.

I've been loving Banana Nutrament http://banananutrament.blogspot.com/

Assumingly, this is the same Banana Nutrament that posts here.

matt2 (matt2), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)

thanx for the kind words matt2. no Banana Nutrament of ILM is a different guy. I just lurk here.

From what posts of his I've read he seems to have similar music tastes and craptacular sense of humor. So I don't mind if people confuse us.

i'm partial to said the gramophone. in a major way. thoughtful writing esp from sean. and he seems to have similar tastes, except for a few exceptions.
like indiekids.org as well

breezy, Tuesday, 20 September 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)

btw my pick would be Riff Raff, but as its not really an mp3 blog I'll pick 20 Jazz Funk Greats. Always some nice surprises there, plus the picture of the naked titty lady would get me through many a lonely desert island night. The renowned Fluxblog has done a goodjob at eroding my prejudices against pop music..

whoever posted everythingisfire.com, spot on pick. I just checked it out and it's about time someone made a good pysch blog.

My main mp3 mining page apparently was turned into a porn site over the weekend.

thanks for the kind words, breezy and kevin.

my fave writing and stuff is at Pop Sheep and moebius rex. fluxblog continues to surprise, and lemon-red is sweet too.

anyone know of good blog archive sites? i've been using hype machine, but i remember reading some mention of a site that archives like 500 blogs, just can't remember where i saw it.

for fans of electronic music, i came across this blog, which i liked because he was writing about throwing parties in the malaysian jungle. whoo-hoo!

Either Bumrocks or TAPE. The latter is sometimes a bit dated (who needs a John Tejada track from 4 months ago?), but should probably be more regular now that the folk who run it seem to be done with their schooling.
