Does anyone remotely care about Oasis anymore?

Just wondering. I certainly don't have any interest in them anymore except to laugh at their horrendous 1996 ways, but are you still MAD FOR 'EM (hur hur)?

New SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE answers!

DG, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I would say it's certainly preferable to Sunny Delight.

I parted company with them after Supersonic, i missed their first gig in Edinburgh on the night that Kurt Cobain died cos i already had tickets for madder rose on the same night - my sense of timing's never been that good

leigh m, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think there's a good case for Oasis having been usurped by their former lieutenants in the Proper Music Brigade, Travis and the Stereophonics.

DG, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I never cared about them.

MarkH, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned to thread, Ned Raggett to thread...

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

*stumbles into thread in alcohol-induced haze, starts throwing attitude around* Well, not really, I just woke up and all.

Yeah, I have the interest -- I'm one of those weirdos who even liked the last album, so ha. ;-) At this point they're a band who might not be getting lead stories on the news via collapsed tours and all, but there's a strong enough fanbase who waits on the new album with bated breath. The list is starting to get more into gear again, and a bootleg of "The Hindu Times" recorded on the live tour last fall has been going around -- pretty good, I would say! Myself, I wait patiently and will see.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

number 1 with a bullet. and their best album since morning glory. well, i hope so. MG still one of my favourite records of all time. not popular to say, but there it is.

piscesboy, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Subject: Does anyone remotely care about Oasis anymore
Uhhhh, No.

...Number One with a bullet...
Right between Loel/Niams close set eyes!

Lord Custos, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think both of them overdosed in Hawaii, in bed with two 10 year old Luau boys...

Gage-o, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The appropriate question might be: Did anyone *EVER* care? But, I suppose a lot of people did. Not me, mind you, although sure...."Champagne Supernova" was a fine single....if completely ridiculous in a lyrical capacity.

They're old news.

Alex in NYC, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, yeah, but so are Killing Joke. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh Ned, you clever fire-dishonorer, we faithful forever await their return! >=)

And just for that...TAKE THIS:

Who was the idiot who told Alex in NYC how to post pictures in that bloody thread?

Heh heh heh *REVENGE!*

I do believe it was I! HAHA!

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i believe Andrew W is still a big fan, if he's still around these parts i'm sure he'll have something of note to add...

gareth, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I've actually been listening to What's the Story Morning Glory a couple times last week, what the hell? I certainly don't care about them particularly, but for some reason I put it on. Theyr'e still fine albums, you know.

Ally, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Liam's eyebrows say it all: Vampyres.

helenfordsdale, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Theyr'e still fine albums, you know"
But that's the answer for a different question. I wanna know if anyone's so impatient for the new album they're acting like a ADHD kid. Is anyone that bothered?

DG, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well no, I know that's what you're on about, the people who crazy lined up for it and all that, I was never one of those, it'd be like, "Oh, new Oasis today, let's go get it". Never understood the needing to rush into the store at midnight and line up to get it, but I don't do that for anyone really.

Ally, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No kidding. It's not like they're The Cure!

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I lined up -- at a friend's behest -- at midnight at Tower Records for the release of THE JOSHUA TREE by...oh you know by who, goddammit. Felt silly doing it.

Lined up for TOO TOUGH TO DIE by the Ramones too, but only because they were there, signing copies.

Alex in NYC, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Is Bell still in the band?

Mr Noodles, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oasis are releasing a new single??? I just realized that's why this thread started.

Ally, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oasis? Are they still around?

Justyn Dillingham, Thursday, 21 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

two months pass...
No. They suck.

Anna Rose, Friday, 17 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

one year passes...
Jihad on Anna Rose! I finally brought myself to buy Definitely Maybe today for the first time, guiltlessly, while reminiscing 'bout those wonderful times once upon a time ago, back in the fifth grade. IT IS STILL BRILLIANT. They will live forever, a pox on you!, and other great things for all to share.

It's all over.

Ned Trifle II, Friday, 28 August 2009 22:16 (sixteen years ago)

According to the beeb. And not a day too soon.

Ned Trifle II, Friday, 28 August 2009 22:18 (sixteen years ago)

Otm. Still cool with noel's songwriting abilities (and voice, like I said on the other thread), but the band has been far from exciting for the last, oh, 10-15 years now. Imho.

StanM, Friday, 28 August 2009 22:47 (sixteen years ago)

Don't Believe The Truth is good.

billstevejim, Saturday, 29 August 2009 03:44 (sixteen years ago)

no

crappy, use her name (latebloomer), Saturday, 29 August 2009 03:45 (sixteen years ago)

"Don't Believe The Truth" is not at all bad, but still nowhere near the greatness of "(What's The Story) Morning Glory".
Which btw is the Oasis album that Liam was the most discontent with, so I hope that is where Noel may be going on his own.

Tied Up In Geir (Geir Hongro), Saturday, 29 August 2009 09:12 (sixteen years ago)

four years pass...

This thread then:

WARNING!

Phoneys & The Freaks is the brand new Rock N Roll band fronted by rising singer/songwriter Alex Lipinski & founding member & guitarist of Oasis, Paul (Bonehead) Arthurs.
