I like every song called "Creep." I think.

billstevejim (billstevejim), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 02:40 (nineteen years ago)

Well, I'd say it's NOT the Stone Temple Pilots

Hurting (Hurting), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 02:41 (nineteen years ago)

And it's NOT TLC

Hurting (Hurting), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 02:41 (nineteen years ago)

And I wish it could say it's not Radiohead, but those are the only three I can think of right now.

Hurting (Hurting), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 02:42 (nineteen years ago)

TLC
Radiohead
The Fall
Afghan Whigs
Stone Temple Pilots

and yeah, all five are fab.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 02:43 (nineteen years ago)

TLC

Sym Sym (sym), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 02:45 (nineteen years ago)

It can't be Afghan Whigs or The Fall, cause I don't like either of those bands. So I guess I'm going with Radiohead.

Hurting (Hurting), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 02:46 (nineteen years ago)

c.r.e.e.p. >>> all the others

jimmy glass (electricsound), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 02:47 (nineteen years ago)

I'm thinking TLC wins for me.

billstevejim (billstevejim), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 02:50 (nineteen years ago)

all 5 are good songs, i'd favour the whigs though

"Too Many Creeps" -Bush Tetras

Curmudgeon (Steve K), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 03:14 (nineteen years ago)

oooh nice!

chris andrews (fraew), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 03:29 (nineteen years ago)

god, that STP song is abominable. I've said it once, and I will say it again: that song has the absolute worst lyrics of any song, ever. i really wonder how drunk (or dumb) weiland had to be to amble into the studio with those lyrics and perform them without any sense of shame.

gunda, Wednesday, 21 September 2005 03:31 (nineteen years ago)

No, I think there are other STP songs with worse lyrics.

Hurting (Hurting), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 03:35 (nineteen years ago)

And I feel that time’s a wasted go
So where ya going to tommorrow?
And I see that these are lies to come
Would you even care?

And I feel it
And I feel it

Where ya going for tommorrow?
Where ya going with that mask I found?
And I feel, and I feel
When the dogs begin to smell her
Will she smell alone?

vs.

Forward yesterday
Makes me wanna stay
What they said was real
Makes me wanna steal
Livin’ under house
Guess I’m livin’, I’m a mouse

All’s I gots is time
Got no meaning, just a rhyme

It's a tough call.

Hurting (Hurting), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 03:38 (nineteen years ago)

Also "Creep" by The Chills - but again, not as good as TLC.

Harthill Services (Neil Willett), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 05:06 (nineteen years ago)

S.P.U.D's is the best.

Dannii Minogue triumphs here

Whiney G. Weingarten (whineyg), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 11:59 (nineteen years ago)

The Radiohead one may be in the top100 songs about going to a stripclub.

peepee (peepee), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 12:04 (nineteen years ago)

TLC

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 12:06 (nineteen years ago)

tlc, radiohead, and the fall versions are all great. i havent heard the chills' version or the afghan whigs' version...

petesmith (plsmith), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 12:09 (nineteen years ago)

The Afghan Whigs version is a cover of the TLC song. It's just about the greatest thing ever (2nd only to their cover of "Easily Persuaded").

If you haven't heard it, you really owe it to yourself:

Time for a mash-up. Somebody please do this.

Bobby Peru (Bobby Peru), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 17:52 (nineteen years ago)

TLC, by a country mile. And I'm not just saying that because of the name.

O'so Krispie (Ex Leon), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 17:53 (nineteen years ago)

Idaho, off their first ep.

zaxxon25 (zaxxon25), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 19:41 (nineteen years ago)

I don't see what's so bad about those STP lyrics.

I had Chino XL in mind when I posted this thread, as well as "Negative Creep" by Nirvana.

billstevejim (billstevejim), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 21:05 (nineteen years ago)

I like Stone Temple Pilots. "Creep" is something I really wish they'd never recorded.

The Afghan Whigs' version of TLC's "Creep" is a very interesting take, and I love how well the song works both as alt-rock and with a male singer, but it doesn't even come close to the unforced crazysexycoolness of the original.

But Radiohead's "Creep" is just absolutely perfect, a song that distills self-loathing down to its bare essentials and kinda makes every song written after it on the same subject unnecessary. One of the great novelty rock hits of all time.

And personally, I think The Whigs' version of "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe" trumps their "Creep" by miles.

My name is Kenny (My name is Kenny), Thursday, 22 September 2005 05:19 (nineteen years ago)

I really don't like Radiohead's "Creep". Really, everything they released circa Pablo Honey can go fuck itself as far as I'm concerned.

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Thursday, 22 September 2005 14:45 (nineteen years ago)

see "Cyclo" and you might change your mind.

Nirvana "Negative Creep"

Old School (sexyDancer), Thursday, 22 September 2005 14:47 (nineteen years ago)

Bush Tetras seconded.

Ian Riese-Moraine: Let this bastard out, and you'll get whiplash! (Eastern Mantr, Thursday, 22 September 2005 14:59 (nineteen years ago)

The Fall trumps them all.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 22 September 2005 15:27 (nineteen years ago)

TLC and the Fall's songs are good, Radiohead's isn't, didn't like the Whigs' version, not heard STP or Dannii Minogue's.
