Detroit Techno question

There's a particular sound that I find myself really enamoured with, and I'm wondering if anyone could give me some info about it. Like if there are particular artists that use it a lot.

I really like the sound of Innerzone Orchestra's "Bug In The Bassbin (Street Mix)", that appeared on the Mo' Wax "Headz II: Part B" compilation. I've been searching for more stuff in the same vein, particularly listening to as much Carl Craig stuff as I can find, but I've been coming up empty until...

Lo and behold, I stumbled upon Black Dog's "Bytes" LP. The first cut "Object Orient" by Plaid has the same feel!

So if anyone is familiar with either of these two cuts, I'd appreciate it if you could point me in the direction of other songs/artists that use the same drum feel, sounds, etc.

Thanks.

'bug in the bassbin' steals it's drums from enoch light so maybe you'd like that?

seriously though, check the early 90's a.r.t. comp which has a lot of carl craig, kirk degiorgio and black dog stuff on it. the drums are all pretty much with that feel.

I can't for the life of me remember either of these tracks. I will go home and listen to them and get back to you. But the Plaid collection has a bunch of stuff similar to Bytes so you have definitely start there.

My Detroit techno question is: Why does no one in Detroit care about Detroit techno?

A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country.
