Sonia's way hotter than Justine, but I'm afraid Echobelly's music just wasn't that especially diverse (Sonia's voice a bit samey). That said, "Car Fiction"'s a great fuckin' single. When I was in London last year, I encountered guitarist Debbie (also of Curve) working at a second-hand compact disc store in Notting Hill Gate. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

For their first album alone, I'd opt for Elastica. But....I'd still like to see Sonia sans togs.

Has anyone noticed that new threads NOW go RIGHT to new questions page without spending ANY time in the Unanswered Questions area first?
Also that all these new threads are taking a turbo rocket sled to the bottom of the page, faster than anyone can answer them?

Lord Custos, Tuesday, 19 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My Lord, the answer is to click on the new answers link at the top of the main page, and I recommned everyone else to look using this method too

Thats not what I meant. What I mean is:
Old way: Someone posts a new question. Its show up on Unanswered page. Then someone, a few days later actually goes in and adds an comment to the thread. THEN it disappears from the Unanswered page goes to the New Questions page.
New Way: Someone posts a new question. Then it goes to the New Questions page.
Weird.

Elastica. Echobelly had one good song (Insomniac) and a lot of middling songs. The first Elastica album is still classic, and I have a big soft spot for the 6-track EP. "The Menace" is rubbish, though.

Totally unjustifiably I feel a bitter tide of resentment everytime I see or hear Echobelly's name. I was in a band in 1994/5, when EB were at their most popular, which had an Anglo-Indian girl singer. If I had a fiver for evrytime someone described us as 'sort of like Echobelly'.... The fact that we sounded like a cross between The Electric Prunes and New Order made no bloody difference. Also, spookily we used to keep seeing Sonia Madan around. I think EB rehearsed at the same place as us, at least in the early days, and I think she even turned up at one our gigs. Anyway...

The first Elastica album is ace.

sure, the singers are both hot, but does it matter?

six years pass...

Just inexplicably re-re-ripped both to my iTunes. Elastica's first album still holds up and then some. Echobelly? Not so much (although "Car Fiction" remains a brilliant single).

I'd still like to see Sonia sans togs.

How was it that I wasn't repeatedly punched in the mouth for such statements?
