No they are both from bands I know and love: Supersnazz and Go Betty Go.

Sorry 'bout the size, somewhat new at this and don't know if it's bad form to clog up the loading time.

― Declan Zimmerman (Declan Zimmerman), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Michelle, of GBG, is wonderful. The bass is seriously almost as large as the woman and she kicks ass on it.

― Declan Zimmerman (Declan Zimmerman), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 22:33 (twenty-one years ago)

add outrageous cherry to that list.

and add britta phillips to the first post since it really shouldn't have taken this long to get to her.

and now someone should start a thread for boy bassists. can anyone think of any?

Hurting otm.

-- Susan Douglas (SusanisDougla...), September 28th, 2005.

If my theory is true, it would also account for why male bassists are proven to be 68% more likely than female bassists to do that funky "bwwwOOWWwww" sound where you slide your hand up and down the neck of the bass really fast.

― Hurting (Hurting), Thursday, 29 September 2005 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Um, er, my, uh, friend. No really, I didn't think of this, but I like to think it's true - because it makes female bass players -- the sexiest musicians in any band -- that much sexier.

― Hurting (Hurting), Thursday, 29 September 2005 05:37 (twenty-one years ago)

-- Leeeeeeeee (leeee...), September 28th, 2005.

There's a big difference between playing rhythm guitar and playing bass. From your perspective if a band has two bassists, one of them must be playing lead guitar.

People, you missed the queen of lady bassists - Jane Munro of The Au Pairs.
-- Dr. C (petethane...), September 29th, 2005.

Well, not really...

Au Pairs and Slits, too!
-- ken taylrr has gone off the internet because of you (or...), September 28th, 2005.

... but I won't disagree that she deserves to be mentioned twice.

I remember reading a interview with a female bassist many years ago - was it Raging Slab? - and she said women are attracted to low frequencies, which is why they gravitate towards bass.

Isn't the bassist in Melt Bannana a woman, too?

― Edward III (edward iii), Thursday, 29 September 2005 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)
