'stufen' has a beginning that's predictable enough but then it gets pretty inaudible...bah damn this thing!! the more I listen the harder it is to even get much of a handle on it! but it goes to interesting places, I mean that perc miniature comes out of nowhere and the ending is unexpected.

Tonight, I'm convinced the third movement of Gubaidulina's Piano Quintet (1957) is the best thing ever. So gorgeous.

Love her string quartets, too.
