Sparks "Gratuitous Sax and Senseless Violins". ROFL!

Is there actually such a thing as a genuinely funny album title?

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 2 October 2005 10:39 (twenty years ago)

Oh, how could I forget Westlife's "Let Us Be Frank" (clue: they are singing the songs of Frank Sinatra, OMG, what a clever pun, work of genius, roffle-tastic etc etc)

(see also Robbie Williams "Swing When You're Winning")

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 2 October 2005 10:43 (twenty years ago)

Westlife's "Let Us Be Frank"

Correction: I think it's actually "Allow Us To Be Frank". It's still shite.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 2 October 2005 10:45 (twenty years ago)

Also Robbie Williams' "The Ego Has Landed". Ho, and indeed, ho.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 2 October 2005 10:45 (twenty years ago)

I think this title is pretty funny, although it needs the cover picture to be so. (Also, the funniness is a bit "hah I'm clever and well-read so I GET IT!")

Stuck to a Seat in the New Beverly (Bent Over at the Arclight), Monday, 3 October 2005 20:51 (twenty years ago)

The above is indeed hilarious.
But I have to raise you a The Best of Color Me Badd.

The Stabbing Westward one is much funnier, because it implies that any Stabbing Westward could be described as "essential". "Best of", on the other hand, simply implies that some of the shit stinks less than the other. Which is certainly true.

An old compilation of Cleveland bands called They Pelted Us With Rocks And Garbage has always made me indescribably gleeful. But Plan 9's I've Just Killed A Man I Don't Want To See Any Meat is pretty great too.
