This sucks right? I even like that song he did with Tony Touch better than most of this.

You crazy Gavin! I like this album a lot. I didn't hear the Tony Touch song though. SP has an ear for a very accessible/pretty melody. His vocal timbre+texture is more interesting than his DJing I suppose but I like the new album quite a bit.

This album pretty much does not suck. It could have been even better if every song was as good as the title-track, though.

Yeah talk about a finale!

deej.., Sunday, 2 October 2005 21:51 (twenty years ago)

I'm listening to this again. And again.

What video game is that in the background?

JoB (JoB), Monday, 3 October 2005 08:52 (twenty years ago)

dunno, it sounds edited up rather than sampled whole so... wanky ward 21 productions eh!

my fave thing about that song is the SCRATCHING!! in these tekno times scratching always sounds like an overexcited failing of cool, it's cute

(cf dizzee's 'stand up tall' too)

hold tight the private caller (mwah), Monday, 3 October 2005 09:42 (twenty years ago)

no, it doesn't suck at all, for various reasons.
ward 21, obviously "wanky" is the right word to describe them.

sfxxxx, Monday, 3 October 2005 10:05 (twenty years ago)

their cut on the riddim is called 'master bate' after all

Oh, you mean that vocal scratching thing that Missy used on every song? It's ok, but c'mon, it's going to get old. Is it Final Scratch (I have no idea).

I dunno, I found the riddims sort of crappy, and none of the spooky melodies that I've come to love Sean Paul for.

three weeks pass...
This is pretty good, but not Dutty Rock good. The title track does rock. I also like "Yardie Bone" a lot. Overall just not quite as hook-a-minute. Some real plodders ("I'll Take You There" sounds like a sub-Eminem production, like a D-12 track or something). Still really like his voice.

("Straight Up" seems to be the favorite of the 1-year-old contingent of the household, based on spontaneous butt-wiggling)

Dutty Rock was fantastic, this is almost as good...and yet nobody is talking about it!

Because there are no Busta Rhymes remixes destroying MTV.

ADAM, HOW COULD WE TALK ABOUT IT WHEN WE HAVE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO TALK ABOUT LIKE WHICH DANCEHALL ARTIST HAD THE BEST 4 RUN RECORD BY LAST NAME!!!

jaxon (jaxon), Friday, 28 October 2005 03:25 (twenty years ago)

i luv dancehall, but can't stand this guys voice. there, i talked about him.

amon (eman), Friday, 28 October 2005 03:28 (twenty years ago)

I prefer this one to Dutty Rock on consistency, if that matters. Dutty Rock has a lot more weird pop songs though.

deej.. (deej..), Friday, 28 October 2005 05:55 (twenty years ago)

i like this, i only heard the first 6 songs
