The Best. "Watch Out Now" is the greatest hip-hop track ever; That Loop is what made me fall in love with the entire genre. Even their weak albums shine. They can rap too.

I'm waiting for Ethan to drop some science.

They can rap too.

One would hope they would at least be trying.

My housemate gets his weed from the same person they do! I can barely smoke that stuff though it's so strong.

Tracerhand = drug fiend.

Whaddayaknow. They have a compilation out this very week, called Classic Nuts Vol. 1. And yes, it has Watch Out Now on it. And Props Over Here, of course.

Tracer the dope fiend shootin dope, don't know the meanin of water or soap!

I would think Ethan's super-honed radar would've picked up this thread an hour before its inception. He must be getting old(er).

Off The Books is arguably better than Watch Out Now... that whole Stone Crazy album is excellent

Also search "Slam Pit" which is yet another good record to feature a Nas sample and uses that same piano loop as DITC's "Champagne Thoughts" but is better.

"No escapin' this" also a classic, plus you get "It's da nuts" on the flip which has a nicer vocal hook but less energy.

Finally they did a track on one of those DJ Honda things that's a La di da di take-off, with a disco-y beat that works really well.

My favourite Beatnuts stuff is all big club tunes - 's what they do best.

Come in ethan, your number's up!

It's only through ILM (or ethan prolly) that I have even become conscious of The Beatnuts' existence. Imagine my surprise then to go into a record shop on saturday and find a Best Of LP is just out - in Europe anyway (Classic Nuts Vol.1). It sounded okay on the listening post, but I can't see myself owning more than one of their records. Is this really the best of their work?

sorry i didn't even see this thread til like a day after it was posted and then i thought it'd be funny to just leave everyone to their own devices but i should really point out that the new best of is, as most best ofs are, not actually their best tracks but rather just a random mishmash of singles. please buy stone crazy instead.
