Hate to say it but this a darn fine record, not even the cod-reggae middle eight can ruin it. Certainly one of the strangest things he's done, plenty of peculiar little things happening just under the mix. Hooking up with this Tin Tin fellow sounds like one his smarter moves.

I agree. Something about that falsetto chorus, which is very light and airy, feels kind of...like it's going to make me very nostalgic for now, when I hear it again in 15 years time.

Have you seen the video though? Blimey, the lad's clearly not well...

I think it's awful, and no significant departure from his usual schtick.

But he does seem to have learnt to sing better/less irritatingly all of a sudden. Which is weird.

I really like it, especially the bridge, but I can't help wishing that someone else was singing it.

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 01:19 (twenty years ago)

I think it sounds like a bad early 90s U2 song, from the snippet I've heard.

Sadly enough it does piss all over the rest of the chart "rock" music at the moment, james blunt etc, manufactured to perfection i'd say ..

and the first couple of lines really make me think of morrissey's recent records..

I can't get past the Stingishness of his singing on this one. LOVED "Radio" tho.

Tom (Groke), Sunday, 23 October 2005 19:50 (twenty years ago)

Apparently "Intensive Care" has had first-week sales of something like 350,000 copies.

At least EMI are getting their money back from their £80million.
