cannot make my mind up. metacritic chose elbow, my hamster the furries...dunno

castro, Monday, 3 October 2005 15:05 (twenty years ago)

Haven't heard leaders yet. Is it better than the last elbow? Love Kraft is about 60% awesome, 30% meh, 10% baby-jesus-crying with the nadir being the 'hell yeaahhhhhhh' from 'back on a roll'.

guythatsaysstuff, Monday, 3 October 2005 16:12 (twenty years ago)

tough call. ultimately i choose love kraft because i haven't tired of listening to it, in fact it gets better with more listening whereas i was blown away with leaders of the free world immediately but it's slowed down a bit for me.

politeturtle, Monday, 3 October 2005 17:54 (twenty years ago)

The 'hell yeaaaah' made me laugh..
I only got love kraft the other day so haven't listened to it enough to call.

Bn1 (Bn1), Monday, 3 October 2005 20:32 (twenty years ago)

the "hell yeaahhh" is hilarious.

it was a different shark (wetmink2), Monday, 3 October 2005 20:37 (twenty years ago)

love kraft is a dud and i love the super furry animals. not one single song stands out or am i not listening close enough? it all blends together and it's like an album of weak gorky's b-sides.

keyth (keyth), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 01:46 (twenty years ago)

Are they trying to get off Sony?

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 07:29 (twenty years ago)

what's that HELL-yeahhhh?
didn't get it.

hub, Tuesday, 4 October 2005 07:40 (twenty years ago)

today i prefer love kraft. listened to it last night. it is definitely an album to hear on raining nights.

catro, Tuesday, 4 October 2005 07:42 (twenty years ago)

Elbow by a country mile.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 08:14 (twenty years ago)

I really really like "Leaders" but "LK" is my album of the year.

Simon H. (Simon H.), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 12:21 (twenty years ago)

Love Kraft.

zeus (zeus), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 12:32 (twenty years ago)

it's like an album of weak gorky's b-sides.

???

As an SFA and Gorky's fan, this makes no sense at all, even if one has given Love Kraft one listen.

donut hallivallerieburtonelli omg lol (donut), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 15:54 (twenty years ago)

i'll take "not listening closely enough" for 100, alex

marc h. (marc h.), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 15:57 (twenty years ago)

hell yeah is from the song "back on a roll"

i choose love kraft. can't wait for the tour. bring it on!

mai, Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:06 (twenty years ago)

Until Love Kraft persuades me otherwise, I'm going with Leaders of The Free World.

Zimmer026 (Zimmer026), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 17:38 (twenty years ago)

Leaders of the Free World is getting better with every listen where as the exact opposite is happening with SFA. In fact if I continue with this Cast is better than Phantom and Asleep blows doors off Rings. I really like my Elbow and it has a lot to do with their amazing live show, gave me chills.

The Furries are/were my currant favorite band and it took me forever to finally get Phantom Power, but now I think it's great. The new one has some good to great songs on it but overall it's a disappointing album for their lofty standards.

BeeOK (boo radley), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 18:03 (twenty years ago)

LOVE KRAFT- BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR

hub, Wednesday, 5 October 2005 06:34 (twenty years ago)

are they good albums by any means?
i mean elbow and the furries are not the strokes and franz ferdinand...

jenna2, Wednesday, 5 October 2005 07:54 (twenty years ago)

The world is over.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 07:56 (twenty years ago)

personally i think that elbow might be a bit over rated.

hub, Wednesday, 5 October 2005 14:04 (twenty years ago)

personally you are fucking wrong.

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 14:07 (twenty years ago)

leaders of the free world is one of the most rewarding albums all year. it keeps expanding in depth, sound, and brilliance on every listen.

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 14:12 (twenty years ago)

i said personally cause that was my opinion.
saw them live last year and nearly fell asleep. i would love to like them, but i don't.

hub, Wednesday, 5 October 2005 14:18 (twenty years ago)

it's like asking which is better between LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WE'RE FLOATING IN SPACE and OK COMPUTER back in 1997.

catro, Wednesday, 5 October 2005 14:49 (twenty years ago)

Except that, um, those 1997 records are AMAZING and these 2005 records are just "pretty good".

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 14:49 (twenty years ago)

Oh no, hang on, a; OK Computer is just "very good" and b; I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 14:50 (twenty years ago)

Oh, is "Leaders of the Free World" an Elbow album? I thought you meant T.Blair, G.Bush were allready to take aim against the SFA album...

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 14:52 (twenty years ago)

those records were the best of 97
love kraft and leader are the best of 2005.
apart from saint etienne + engineers

castro, Wednesday, 5 October 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

How many records from 1997 and 2005 have you heard?

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 14:56 (twenty years ago)

the leaders of the free world are against love kraft...too much love on that album too many sexual references on the cover

hub, Wednesday, 5 October 2005 14:57 (twenty years ago)

thousands

castro, Wednesday, 5 October 2005 14:57 (twenty years ago)

Holy shit, shut up.

enjoy bell woods, Wednesday, 5 October 2005 15:27 (twenty years ago)

Love Kraft is a decent album

Elbow is a decent band.

Neither did much for me this year.

oeoieoeieoei, Wednesday, 5 October 2005 15:31 (twenty years ago)

Love Kraft IS an amazing record.

golfer, Wednesday, 5 October 2005 17:59 (twenty years ago)

LOVE KRAFT IS CLASS. end of discussion

Cloudberries is the most luscious piece of music around today! Truly heart melting, texture of the song in three parts just builds up!!!

hub, Thursday, 6 October 2005 10:52 (twenty years ago)

I'm really growing to hate militant SFA fans.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Thursday, 6 October 2005 11:07 (twenty years ago)

Me too. And I'm the biggest SFA fan you'll find. This is just ridiculous.

enjoy bell woods (sjjd111), Thursday, 6 October 2005 12:51 (twenty years ago)

How big are you? Are you the size of a bear?

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Thursday, 6 October 2005 13:34 (twenty years ago)

Orca whale, actually.

enjoy bell woods (sjjd111), Thursday, 6 October 2005 14:24 (twenty years ago)

Wow, that is big.

Here is a picture of a lead weight embedded in an angler's eye-socket.
