Supremely expensive tickets but you just made my best friend's birthday, StanM. Thanks!
― Finefinemusic, Tuesday, 11 March 2008 15:20 (eighteen years ago)
i know the guy who cohen is suing for losing all his money thereby necessitating touring again
― jhøshea, Tuesday, 11 March 2008 15:24 (eighteen years ago)
I thought Kelley Lynch was female and he lost?
― StanM, Tuesday, 11 March 2008 15:25 (eighteen years ago)
kelly lynch was his business manger - the guy i know was his financial manager and was also sued by cohen - but i think just for negligence not fraud. he said he was getting sued cause unlike lynch he actually has money - whether this is true or not i have no idea. he did counter sue cohen for defamation. i hadnt heard if thered been an outcome yet.
― jhøshea, Tuesday, 11 March 2008 15:31 (eighteen years ago)
but yah my understanding is that lynch was the prime suspect
― jhøshea, Tuesday, 11 March 2008 15:33 (eighteen years ago)
Oh, in that case "Plaintiff" = Gr33nb3rg = the guy you know.
Yep, Cohen lost. (can't find it anywhere else than here at the moment)
― StanM, Tuesday, 11 March 2008 15:33 (eighteen years ago)
"IV. CONCLUSION
For reasons unknown and unknowable, Leonard Cohen gave a trusted agent—Kelley Lynch—complete and unlimited control over his finances. Over the course of several years, Cohen’s fortune was rapidly depleted. Looking back, Cohen now tries to pin responsibility for his injury on Plaintiffs. To paraphrase Justice Holmes, however, the person reposing confidence in Lynch was not Plaintiffs, but Cohen, and he himself tells us that his confidence was unlimited. See Empire Trust Co. v. Cahan, 274 U.S. 473, 479 (1927). Moreover, the unauthorized transactions went on for over two years without inquiry. Plaintiffs could reasonably expect Cohen to have noticed if anything was wrong in this period. Id. at 479–80. “Careful people generally look over their bank accounts quite frequently.” Id. at 480. Cohen cannot blame Plaintiffs for his own negligence in this regard by belatedly concocting a tenuous and unsupported breach of contract theory. Accordingly, I GRANT Plaintiffs’ Motion for Summary Judgment as to Cohen’s First Counterclaim [Docket # 148].
Lewis T. Babcock, Judge"

I don't know where that text can be found online, probably at some (paying) law site - which is why I expect it won't be on that board for long either.
― StanM, Tuesday, 11 March 2008 15:38 (eighteen years ago)
there is something beautifully apt abt a fortune slipping away while you sit at a zen monastery

lol at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre
Red Rocks is a bizarre spot for him to play ... I'd go, but I'd probably be sitting next to four dozen chatty Kathys ... or 4,000 ....

This Live in London release is a lot better than I expected. Funny, too.

In case that sounds like I expected it to suck: I thought it was going to be very good, but it's excellent indeed.
