I hope this fuckin worldFuckin burns away
I am listening to "Solarian 13" really fucking loud, and thinking that it is the most awesome shit anybody ever did with a guitar and drug problem. And I am also thinking that it grinds Boris and Corrupted down to a fine powder, wads them up with some camel dung, and fucking smokes them.
Am I wrong?

Sorry for reviving shit thread and all, but it seemed appropriate to massive insight I had while listening to the Wizard.
― Calling All Creeps! (contenderizer), Friday, 9 January 2009 21:10 (seventeen years ago)
wrong about corrupted. recent boris yes
― Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 9 January 2009 21:10 (seventeen years ago)
No, but really, just better. More plain fucking METAL, rock 'n' roll, less abstraction based upon. Plus the me-not-speaking-Japonnaise thing helps give EWhiz the edge. Fucking worlds fucking burning away do set a certain mood.
― Calling All Creeps! (contenderizer), Friday, 9 January 2009 21:15 (seventeen years ago)
Probly shouldn't have brought Corrupted into this. No fair.
― Calling All Creeps! (contenderizer), Friday, 9 January 2009 21:16 (seventeen years ago)
Corrupted sing in Spanish!
― Pfunkboy formerly known as ... (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 9 January 2009 21:20 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, that's why I was x-ing them out in the last post (Boris v EWiz thred). But I don't speak Spanish neither.

Listening through my collection I think Electric Wizard and Boris were some of the few rock acts to truly catch my attention this decade. What other music (albums or songs) along the lines of these two bands can you recommend me?
― Moka, Wednesday, 20 January 2010 02:21 (sixteen years ago)
Definitely Sleep if you haven't heard them, although they weren't really of this decade.

Only album by Sleep I've ever owned is Holy Mountain and yes, it's pretty awesome. Will hunt down the rest of their discography later this week.

HIGH ON FIRE
― kamerad, Wednesday, 20 January 2010 02:32 (sixteen years ago)
If you're really into the doom-y low end thing I'd suggest maybe some Candlemass, The Gates of Slumber, Earth, Pentagram. High On Fire is great too, but a little less reliant on the doom thing.

At first I was wtf? then I thought this might actually be quite good:http://thequietus.com/articles/04387-news-boris-ian-astbury-announce-collaboration

When I saw Boris live I nearly broke down, but I think they're shite on CD. Electric Wizard rule whatever happens, but most of the stuff after Dopethrone is a bit dump.
― village idiot (dog latin), Friday, 4 June 2010 15:53 (fifteen years ago)
RONG! Witchcult Today is awesome.
― Neil S, Friday, 4 June 2010 15:54 (fifteen years ago)
its quite possibly their best album. Let Us Prey is a terrific and very underrated album.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 4 June 2010 15:56 (fifteen years ago)
I adore both of these bands, but I gotta give the nod to Boris for their overall eclectic lunacy. These previously untrodden paths sometimes lead to unpleasant places, but they help Boris to avoid the rut Electric Wizard has found themselves in. I feel the same way about Corrupted who have never stagnated in the way Da Wizard has, and will be ground to a fine powder by NOBODY. :-)
― ImprovSpirit, Friday, 4 June 2010 16:05 (fifteen years ago)
electric wizards last album is better than the last few boris albums, by a long way.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 4 June 2010 16:08 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah, Witchcult is astounding.
I'd quite happily count Dopethrone, Supercoven, Let Us Prey and Come My Fanatics as amongst the best rock records I own.
If you like this kind of caper, what about the last ASVA album, UFOmammut, Sleep's Holy Mountain and Jerusalem, the new Ramesses, the SunnO))) and Boris collab Altar and the Michio from Ghost collab Rainbow, Goat Snake 'Flowers Of Disease', Church Of Misery, Cathedral's 'Endtyme' and 'Hopkins' EP, Sloath, 'I Am Come' by Part Chimp, 'Congress' and 'Pilgramage' by Om...
WAIT A SECOND! ARE YOU A GIRL?!
Then I've already said to much and been too pleasant...
