wrt double listing
that be my mistake, not the 'Tones.
Also, Sinatra is a Helmet song, not a b-side...

too weird to get full adulation of the nu-metal masses.....too metal or perceived as metal to get that much critical cred....

Does this one actually work? If it does, I would be impressed.

Incase you guys are unaware, "Back to School" was actually a part of the last song on the album, "Pink Maggit", but they made a shorter version of it as a single.
Man, I'm going to listen to that album again.

No, no...yr right in the larger sense that, yeah, like I'm sure The Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments aren't shedding any tears for Deftones, but I just have friends that aren't familiar w/Deftones that would prolly dismiss them out of hand, cuz of the nu-metal connection, or whatever....but yeah, they've probably sold a shitload more records than lots of people...

Finally got around to check them out. This b-side comp is a great place (Sade AND Cure covers!) to start for people like me (who were scared off by the nu-metal tag. Where should I go next if I wanna check out one of their real albums?

re: underrated / miscategorized discussion upthread: If this band had a different name they'd have way more cred. "Deftones" is a really, really terrible name.
I agree about the B-sides comp - p much good all the way through.

the "savory" cover is basically chino + far, which is fun to hear. always wanted chino and jonah matranga to do a record together, their voices blend v nicely

Drive acoustic is a pretty cool reinterpretation with that (accidental?) nod to Massive Attack’s teardrop.
