"losing my mind" is a great little single. But that's probably because the Pet Shop Boys were providing the karaoke track..

PSBs did (bar one track) the whole album with her - "Results" if that's the one you mean. Extraordinary Tackhead-style cover of Twist In My Sobriety is one of its many highlights; another being the song Rent done Sondheim orchestral ballad style.

Watching Minelli on Graham Norton the other nite, I exclaimed the campest sentence ever to pass my lips, viz "oooooooh! I was listening to my Liza Minelli lp last nite!". My pet theory = Results is the best PSB lp they were ever involved with.

I thought the book was great. More frank than I expected. Perhaps not as self-flattering as intended, as it's easy to read between the lines and find the narrator exhausting. How much Michael Feinstein had to do with the ultimate manuscript is an open question. Would Liza have gone after Lady Gaga so hard without Feinstein's goading? Who's to say.

I want to read this for the Studio 54 stuff alone.

One thing I love about certain show biz memoirs that reflect back on the '70s/'80s is that the subject must reckon with what Andy Warhol said about them in the his diaries, because they know he was the ultimate observer-gossip who can't be disputed. So for instance Liza has to address the story that she showed up at Halston's apartment late one night in 1978 with Martin Scorsese in tow and told Halston, "Give me every drug you've got."
