Uh... is this Lose Control?

matt2 (matt2), Thursday, 6 October 2005 13:05 (twenty years ago)

I assume you mean Daft Punk. Pretty awes.

deej.., Thursday, 6 October 2005 16:46 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I guess it is Technologic this reminds me of. But does Missy's Lose Control do something with a digital voice too? It's been a few months, am I totally mis-remembering?

matt2 (matt2), Thursday, 6 October 2005 19:13 (twenty years ago)

this is absolutely horrible.

f-a-b-o-l-o-u-s (adamwest), Thursday, 6 October 2005 20:12 (twenty years ago)

Its a technologic sample! Also I like what the dude from spizzazzz said about it:

it is all quite exciting, especially after a year or more of pissing about from the nu interscope busta. there was that scott storch staccato violin one, "hurt you" i think? what a fantastically annoying song! anyway he was probably ecstatic when ying yang's "wait" blew up - who's likely to thrive better in a environment of flow-based gimmickry and mood conceptualizing? helpfully, the answer is in "touch it".

deej.., Thursday, 6 October 2005 21:14 (twenty years ago)

Smell It

amon (eman), Thursday, 6 October 2005 22:03 (twenty years ago)

This track is FEROCIOUS.

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Thursday, 13 October 2005 12:20 (twenty years ago)

I still haven't heard this! generally I like nu-Swizz but I'm surprised everyone on the east coast is still running to him for a lead single after Bleek and Young Gunz and Cassidy bricked.

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 13 October 2005 12:34 (twenty years ago)

The link upthread still works...

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Thursday, 13 October 2005 12:35 (twenty years ago)

this song is a piece of shit
busta continues to be the wackness
the beat isnt bad, hes at least not doing that mumblemouth thing hes been doing for ages, but as soon as that chorus comes in, it returns to being utter shit

okokk, Thursday, 13 October 2005 12:39 (twenty years ago)

natlawdp, Friday, 28 October 2005 16:14 (twenty years ago)

i cannot believe people is dissin busta! this track is BIG tho it just makes you wanna get up and dance! both the instrumental and flow are mad sick!!!!

kwame, Sunday, 30 October 2005 09:38 (twenty years ago)

Busta Rhymes is one of those rappers that comes out with some fantastic songs, but has never had a really solid album. Always a few songs that are fantastic and loads of filler in between.

Don Rowlando (Sam Rowlands), Sunday, 30 October 2005 13:20 (twenty years ago)

That's probably true if speaking about studio albums, but "Turn It Up! The Very Of Best of..." is the ultimate solidness, no fillers at all.

Kornél Kovács (Kornél Kovács), Sunday, 30 October 2005 13:52 (twenty years ago)

Well that doesn't really count seeing as it's a greatest hits album now does it?

Don Rowlando (Sam Rowlands), Sunday, 30 October 2005 17:25 (twenty years ago)

Yo, Busta is Back! I really can't see why a few people try to hate on Busta. He is & has always been orignal. If ya don't feel his style fine, but you have to respect him for what he has done. I guess the peeps who hate on Bussa Bus are the ones who like all those fake ass, cookie cutta rappers that have no orignal style. Every heard of respect? Guess not. Fuck all the haters. You type people are all that's wrong with HipHop. Gon' & Do what you Do Busta!

Street Beatz Entertainment, Tuesday, 1 November 2005 15:53 (twenty years ago)

^
wish my street team was that dedicated, I tell ya.

kevin says relax (daddy warbuxx), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 20:59 (twenty years ago)

five months pass...
RRRRREEEMIX!

I like it. It's like a big Norman Granz jambang session. I also like how most of the rappers on it do a variation on Busta's flow over the beat, but then DMX comes on and just does his retarded lead-tongued schtick.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Friday, 28 April 2006 03:56 (twenty years ago)

A google search suggests that there are actually multiple remixes, and I might have actually been hearing some dj combine two of them.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Friday, 28 April 2006 03:58 (twenty years ago)

yeah that's a mighty entertaining remix. not good necessarily, but entertaining.

Sym Sym (sym), Friday, 28 April 2006 04:04 (twenty years ago)

i really like the one with papoose and lloyd banks (i just realized busta goes "REMIX PART 3!" - how many are there, exactly?). papoose sounds almost exactly like jay-z, with maybe a faster flow. don't know how well this would go over in a club but on headphones it's marvelous

joseph (joseph), Friday, 28 April 2006 05:12 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, the one I heard sounded like it had about 15 different rappers on it, which is what makes me think the dj was combining at least two. It definitely included Missy, Rah Digga, Mary J. Blige, DMX, and I'm pretty sure Papoose and Lloyd Banks were on it too.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Friday, 28 April 2006 05:17 (twenty years ago)

No the original is like 10 minutes long, for serious. They're only spinning parts of it. I think we discussed this somewhere, people were torn on Papoose ("best" "worst") and some folks were not respecting Mary J.

deeej, Friday, 28 April 2006 05:33 (twenty years ago)

I dunno if someone cobbled it together but I've seen that one as (Mega Remix)

kit brash (kit brash), Friday, 28 April 2006 05:36 (twenty years ago)

what is this? "light that ass on fire pt 2"?? no complaints, i guess.

DEEDS NOT WORDS (vahid), Friday, 28 April 2006 05:38 (twenty years ago)

yeah the music video has all six people hurting mentioned.

Sym Sym (sym), Friday, 28 April 2006 05:51 (twenty years ago)

wtf the mary j bit is amazing!

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 28 April 2006 08:53 (twenty years ago)

I thought the remix they made a video for including Missy, Rah Digga, Mary J. Blige, DMX etc etc was pretty disapointing. Most of the rappers lacked the intensity to do the second part, especially Lloyd Banks. Actually the only rapper who pulled it off was DMX and he did it better than Busta.

Period period period (Period period period), Friday, 28 April 2006 11:53 (twenty years ago)

I kinda like the Mary J. verse. Incidentally, I wonder who was the first rapper to cite first-week album sales in a song.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Friday, 28 April 2006 13:58 (twenty years ago)

yeah the mary j part is prob the best. pretty sure when i first heard this - on the radio - it was the megaremix. (right after grillz which somehow made it all the more disorienting) i love the get low/turn it up thing.

artcore, Friday, 28 April 2006 14:09 (twenty years ago)

whos the ushery guy about 4 minutes in though? ne-yo?

artcore, Friday, 28 April 2006 14:14 (twenty years ago)

yeah originally there were 3 remixes (Mary/Digga/Missy, Lloyd/Papoose, and DMX), and then for the video/radio megamix they just took 8 bars from each person's verse.

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Friday, 28 April 2006 14:39 (twenty years ago)

this song is mad crazy....the lyrics are sick mo-fo...bustas riding with the big dog

westwood, Monday, 8 May 2006 09:16 (nineteen years ago)

imagine riding with a big dog

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Monday, 8 May 2006 13:28 (nineteen years ago)

this song is wack btw, its like the rap version of those shitty movies the producers know most americans audience will hate but still make tons of $$$$ in like thailand or something w/ ppl who dont know better

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Monday, 8 May 2006 13:44 (nineteen years ago)

WTF

Dan (Worst Anology Ever? Congrats On Out-Momusing Momus) Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 8 May 2006 19:51 (nineteen years ago)

nah dude you know what im saying, its like this garbage idea of american rap that could only sell to french herbs who dont understand shit, just like they push $200 million dollar flops overseas when they dont recoup the budget here

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Monday, 8 May 2006 20:01 (nineteen years ago)

The remix w/ Rah Digga is even worse. It's a stretch asking me to give a fuck about Busta Rhymes in 2006 but Rah Digga?

adam (adam), Monday, 8 May 2006 20:14 (nineteen years ago)

rah digga >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> busta

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Monday, 8 May 2006 20:15 (nineteen years ago)

a wat u sayin bout my song and busta hey I GOT STATEN ISLAND ON MY PINKY QUEENS ON MY DUMB DUDE
THE BRONX ON MY MIDDLE FINGER SCREAMIN FUCK YOU

$PAPOOSE$, Monday, 8 May 2006 20:17 (nineteen years ago)

lol new york

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Monday, 8 May 2006 20:22 (nineteen years ago)

lol 'queens on my dumb dude'

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Monday, 8 May 2006 20:34 (nineteen years ago)

I can't help but be impressed by the verbal dexterity and sheer linguistic genius required to rhyme "finger" with "finger."

Telephonething (Telephonething), Monday, 8 May 2006 20:52 (nineteen years ago)

it's a wack verse but dude find something better to do than HAR HAR about rappers ending lines with the same word now and then instead of rhyming

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:02 (nineteen years ago)

i never get tired of white ppl being amazed that a word can be rhymed with itself - wtf kinda rule is this anyway?? its not like rock music avoids it so why should rappers who use 1000 more words in a single verse

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:08 (nineteen years ago)

Quite frankly, given that hardly anyone in the top 40 bothers to write actual rhymes I'll take a little word repetition, particularly if it reinforces a narrative scheme.

Dan (LOL At Telephonething) Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:11 (nineteen years ago)

no this is still wack

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:17 (nineteen years ago)

I still like Busta's schtick in small doses (six million remix verses and one song every two or three years is small enough for me haha.) The megaremix is good in an everyone is all over the place type way.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:19 (nineteen years ago)

here goes some rappers on the current top 40 (i checked billboard.com) who 'bother to write actual rhymes' more than busta - lil wayne, bubba sparxxx, t.i., shawnna, krayzie bone, big gipp, chamillionaire, remy ma, mike shinoda (fort minor), e-40, juvenile, ludacris

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:25 (nineteen years ago)

And guess what? I like every single person you've listed! If your point was "There are tons of people who actually rhyme in the charts" I really have to point back at fucking Ying Yang/50 Cent/Juelz Santana/insert bullshit dipshit here who comes across on record as if they read at a second-grade level and then respectfully invite you to bite deez nutz.

Dan (Not Looking For A Reasoned Argument Here) Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:32 (nineteen years ago)

Basically my position is that I kind of don't give a good goddamn which storied and celebrated rap aficionados dislike this track; I think it's stellar.

Dan (FIN) Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:35 (nineteen years ago)

i dont give a good goddamn how hard you ride bustas dick every time he releases hot garbage either so dont get all bitchy about it

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:41 (nineteen years ago)

damn, Ethan, if there's any proof that you're overreacting it's that you're rating MIKE SHINODA over Busta (even if we're talking just the songs currently on the charts that's questionable). and besides, Dan only seemed to be piling onto Telephonething's bitching about Papoose's finger/finger couplet, not defending Busta, and you know how much it pains me to stick up for Dan (I Will Never Give Up This Unfunny Parentheses Schtick) Perry.

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:48 (nineteen years ago)

Have I ever even spoken to you before?

Dan (LOL At People Completely Not On My Radar) Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:50 (nineteen years ago)

LOL at ILX-celebs looking down on the little people

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:50 (nineteen years ago)

Besides Ethan, attempting to call someone else out for being bitchy after coming up with the bitchiest comment on the thread is kind of hysterical!

Dan (MORE UNFUNNY PARENTHESES FOR THE SELF-PROCLAIMED "LITTLE PEOPLE") Perry (Da, Monday, 8 May 2006 21:51 (nineteen years ago)

i didn't like this one much even tho 'Technologic' grew on me loads, and i've always been a (casual) Busta fan.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:51 (nineteen years ago)

mike shinoda goes pretty lyrical on that fort minor album!! id rather listen to his stilted conscious/introspective skater rhymes than busta babbling over the last gasp of of east coast homo pop rap - dude is not really nerdier than like cham or lupe fiasco & has got a real flow unlike a good third of shit on the chart

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:53 (nineteen years ago)

but yeah this is just a generic busta verse, i mostly hate the beat

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:54 (nineteen years ago)

Wow, if only Busta knew true what true drama felt like...

Confounded (Confounded), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:54 (nineteen years ago)

big lol @ "storied and celebrated rap aficionados"

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:54 (nineteen years ago)

ooh straight to the other staple of Dan ("I Don't Even Know Who You Are") Perry humor, the caps lock button, we're getting all the hits today. (xpost)

I love the kick drum sound on "Touch It" but not much else, I'm kinda waiting for Swizz to put to use on a better track.

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:55 (nineteen years ago)

its a disgrace considering how raw most of his other beats have been over the past 2-3 yrs

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:56 (nineteen years ago)

ooh straight to the other staple of Dan ("I Don't Even Know Who You Are") Perry humor, the caps lock button, we're getting all the hits today

Ah, come on, that's not fair. He's also got that "AHHHH YOU'VE MADE ME THINK OF A KITTEN WITH A VAGINA FOR AN EAR NOW GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD" shit he uses on occasion. Don't sell the man short.
