How many songs/albums do you have that you would give five stars to?

On first look I realise that this may seem like a somewhat daft question but stay with me, my story gets better...

A few nights ago i was perusing my iPod and accidentally double-clicked the click wheeeeeeeel which changes it to a mode where you rate your songs. I was supposed to be revsing for mid-terms (at university, senior year) so was quite happy to take some procrastination time out.

Out of all the many thousands of songs on there - far from being my entire record collection - I was only able to find 29 songs that I would rate as *****. Maybe I was being a little strict (and probably missed a few, "Blackbird" springs to mind) but i would take a 5 star rating to mean "as good as you could imagine it being". I apply the same definition to films and, when I am even more bored, when i start perusing Hot Or Not.

Sooooo, after that convoluted explanation (i should once again be studying), how many songs do you own that are as good as you could imagine them being? And, for a bonus point, what are they?

but i would take a 5 star rating to mean "as good as you could imagine it being"

Maybe 20-30 albums. I'm really picky with handing out 5-star ratings, though. It basically has to be an album that I can't imagine that artist ever bettering. On the other hand, I would dole out a lot of four-star+ ratings.

i agree. most of the songs and albums are probably worthy of four stars (otherwise i wouldn't own them) but a 5 Star-er is something truly exceptional.

and yes, i probably do have too much time on my hands.

well, my RYM stats say I consider 27 albums sublime(rather than "perfect" or "flawless", I wouldn't know what that means), songs would probably number at least 100

If 9.6 is five stars than many, many albums. 10.0 are much tougher to get with only two since 1989 but songs are a bit easier.

No more than 10 or so albums, but easily 500+ songs.
