Ooh I Like It

presaging discovery and vocoder-house by 8 years? jonny l is best known for pretty searing techstep but made this rave-house (4/4!) record back in 93 and i think it is rather lovely. it is uber-saccharine, almost too much with the fluffy methalenedioxy shit.

the 12 itself isn't very good, but this edit version which i think appeared on an xl compilation for america is something else

and can anyone make out the lyrics? (other than "ooh i like it"?)

Can't help you with the lyrics, but this is still my favorite Jonny L track.

i was sure more people would be interested in this track. dan is right though, although it is not as trailblazing as Hurt You So was, it is a much better track (mainly because Hurt You So is let down by the lil louis style bits inbetween the mdma bits, if you see what i mean)

I think it's a beautiful track. Thankyou Gareth.

I'd be interested in it but I've never heard it so I can't really post anything about it. Any chance of re-filepiling it? I missed it the first time. Thanks very much.

I mean, I don't suppose I'll be posting anything insightful or well-written about it after hearing it, but I'd be very grateful if someone could send it my way. (Same goes for the track Tim F wrote about on the FT anniversary thing, actually. I like begging for files. Sorry.)

As soon as I get the CDs I'll post here, I'm dying to hear it now I must say.

I'm with Tom on this one - thanks yet again Gareth! please continue to map the pop-meets-hardcore antidote to dry-experimentalism in dance music.

I was intrigued by this thread, googled, and found this library of trance classics for the bandwidth challenged. I've got to admit I'm not that impressed by the Jonny L track, but there are some stormers here - at least give "Age Of Love" and "The Gift" a chance.

rebecca, this track is now on gabba.net

Found myself stuck in traffic with an awesome Jonny L mix on the radio the other day, it began with a dense wall-of-bass track, a sufforcating 'vub-vub-vub-vub' rumble, enclosed and inescapable, yet subtly filtering........... I'm still recovering. Suggested titles appreciated.

It's fantastic!
Thanks.

and weirdly enough theres this larry tee thing, also called 'ooh i like it' by w.i.t, which is actually almost as good as the unrelated jonny l track
