What do people think on this one?
I'm tossed. More solid in comparison to their 80's work, but still lots of garbage. Honestly, I think that the mix on the bass on this album and on "Alive III" makes it interesting, as Simmons gets some decent bass riffs on the album. Horrible lyrics, and "God Gave Rock and Roll to You II" is pretty goddamned awful, but something makes me like this album, and it bugs me trying to figure out what.

Classic if only for that outro. The rest of the album's pretty forgettable, though.

I'm serious because I swear, so many KISS fans will excuse any shitty album for whatever odd reasons. And quite often, even those that don't, will still seem to like some of their more questionable albums for various reasons. I.e. me with Music from the Elder... Alex in NYC with Dynasty.

plus— and I think AlexNYC might correct me— its the only Kiss album that begins with a Simmons tune.

I never picked up any of the non-makeup albums (actually, I think I gave up prior to Creatures of the Night, the last make-up record). Wait, that's not true. I did pick up a copy of the entirely needless Alive III when I found it on the discard pile at work. I did get the Unplugged disc too, so I guess that also counts as a non-makeup record. I regret to say that I did buy Psycho-Circus which is dire beyond words (though Ace's "Into the Void" weren't too bad). I did get the box set a number of years back, which included a bunch of the non-makeup stuff (like the sublimely ludicrous "All Hell's Breakin' Lose" off of Lick It Up wherein Kiss INVENT RAP-METAL!).
