Currently being much hyped, The best space rock band in the history of the eardrum,9/10 in da NME, Noel Gallagher loves them, The singer has grotesque facial hair. But are they any good?

Or are they just a bad Verve retread?

Damn these italics.

Billy Dods, Thursday, 21 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But Bill, surely you must know that by law the NME is only allowed to give 9/10 to bad Verve retreads?

(Hang on, I see they've given Geogaddi 9/10. Then again heh heh - )

3rd time lucky

Yeah Marcello you're probably right, but I'm from the generation when a rave in the NME usually meant it was worth checking out, and old habits die hard.

I have "Welcome to the Infant Freebase" on my desk right now, and I totally like it... I was never much of a Union Carbide Productions fan as I thought the vocals were too abrasive... that's all gone now, it's great pop... but like most Swedish bands (Cardigans excepted), don't even peek at the lyric sheet.

Ye gods! I saw them live the other week and they were DIRE. My friend thought they sounded like a pub-rock version of the Eagles.

I don't like them, they say nothing new. A bit like listening to World Party, except THEY were half good.
