luigi nono 'Al gran sole carico d'amore' is pretty loud with some subtle electronic interventions. loud, yes, whether you'll be moved will depend on whether you like to be slogannered to or not but there's wuite a bit too enjoy.

bernd alois zimmermann 'die soldaten' (both of these on teldec) -shapes arrived through a serial application but sublime moments of multi-lateral thinking including the jazz band/tapdancing in the 2nd act, and the multi-layered voices through speakers depicting the main female character rape in the last act

obv alabn berg's Lulu and his wozzeck (check my alban berg thread)

the fragments of kagel's 'staastheater' and brian ferneyhough's 'shadowtime' that I've heard are pretty good - def moments of incomprehension in the former (and maybe too abstract in terms of what you're asking) but there'll prob some moments of instr violence in the latter.

gerald barry's 'the bitter tears...' a rec of which is available - the score is made of these repetitive brass figures - the story is of a fashion designer's infatuation w/a model; the words are spoken all semi-musical like - the woman who feels too much and can't process it!

(saw a video clip of xenakis 'oresteia' - again prob too abstract [though over abstractness def moves me] but maybe try that - not an 'opera' in the strict sense but whatsobluddyevah, y'know)
