I need some thick techno.

What's the most satisfying, splintered-up, fucked up, thickest thickness-having techno music you can think of? I"m thinking of the most dense, heavy autechre-y, raw, supremely-textured, gnarled and belligerent aphezx-type shit. but not those artists. something new? old?

cristian vogel's "dungeon master"

vahid (vahid), Monday, 10 October 2005 03:46 (twenty years ago)

Richard Devine's Lipswitch comes to mind.

Jena (JenaP), Monday, 10 October 2005 03:46 (twenty years ago)

Also, Phthalocyanine - No One Said You Didn't.

Jena (JenaP), Monday, 10 October 2005 03:47 (twenty years ago)

Ricahrd Devine and Christian Vogel were the first people to come to mind, so if that further means anything then alright.

ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!, Monday, 10 October 2005 04:12 (twenty years ago)

On the "old" department you could try Air Liquide, especially their early-to-mid-nineties stuff.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 10 October 2005 05:33 (twenty years ago)

Hella Church Gone Wild

BRSSL, Monday, 10 October 2005 05:44 (twenty years ago)

nutrasweet glider, Monday, 10 October 2005 06:17 (twenty years ago)

Air Liquide: "Chromoplastic (Live at Love Parade '94)"

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 10 October 2005 07:17 (twenty years ago)

the most satisfying, splintered-up, fucked up, thickest thickness-having [...] most dense, heavy autechre-y, raw, supremely-textured, gnarled and belligerent aphezx-type shit

amon (eman), Monday, 10 October 2005 14:13 (twenty years ago)

Cross the "autechre-y" and emphasize the "belingerent"...

Speedy J: Borax

Neil Landstrumm: Bullet Proof

Steel: Eat Dis!

These aren't really "techno", but since Aphex and Autechre aren't either, I think it doesn't matter.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 10 October 2005 14:29 (twenty years ago)

Fuck, that was the wrong Steel track, that one's more like techstep d&b. Well, it's a nice track anyway.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 10 October 2005 14:32 (twenty years ago)

the heaviest, the densest, the thickest, rawest, gnarledest track ever, so obvious i forgot, here it is: Dr. Blowfins' Black Storm Stabilizing Spheres

one eye white, one eye black (FE7), Monday, 10 October 2005 14:38 (twenty years ago)

the last misc. album on sender has heavy-distorted-bass-pressure.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Monday, 10 October 2005 18:39 (twenty years ago)

I wouldn't call it autechre-y, but Joey Beltram makes some thick, tough, blazing techno....

jsoulja (jsoulja), Monday, 10 October 2005 18:45 (twenty years ago)

Exposure - "Peak Experience"
Elevator 101 - "This Is House"

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 October 2005 18:48 (twenty years ago)

2Rabimmel 2Rabammel 2Rabum 2Bum Bum

fandango (fandango), Monday, 10 October 2005 18:59 (twenty years ago)

Actually, Neil Landstrumm is techno, just with an added distortion. I wholeheartedly recommend the LP that one track's from, the wonderfully titled She Took a Bullet Meant for Me.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 10 October 2005 19:04 (twenty years ago)

vogel thirded, basically everything he's ever done.... esp dungeon master.

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Monday, 10 October 2005 19:09 (twenty years ago)

I like Vogel's sound, but the stuff I've heard felt kinda... cold, drenched of emotion.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 10 October 2005 19:11 (twenty years ago)

midimiliz - no alibi

THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME

It's like an evil, awesomer version of "Pony".

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 October 2005 19:19 (twenty years ago)

(I'd also forgotten that, from time to time, Speedy J did stuff that I liked.)

(Although I like "Borax" because it sounds like Low Profile Darkness chopped and screwed, heh.)

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 October 2005 19:26 (twenty years ago)

My favourite Speedy J tune is still the utterly fucking amazing remix he did of Adam Beyer-Ignition Key, put that shit on full volume on a stereo, it's so so crazy.

Will never forget a whole table of me and my friends sitting having a beer or two in mine and eventually everyone just agreeing (even non dance friends who like Mercury Rev or whatever), "yeah that tune is kind of amazing!"

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 10 October 2005 19:37 (twenty years ago)

Clearly I must hear this.
