ILM search problem

I just looked for "lomov" with the ILM search. What I got as a "result" does not make sense. The word "lomov" has 5 letters and I do not think it is a very common word, or did I miss something? What is happening here?

Find threads from I Love Music, containing lomov.
None found

Words shorter than 4 letters and very common words are ignored in keyword (Simple, Query and Subject) searches.

the entire search function appears to be buggered right now. there was a friendly and informative exchange between mr noodles and i on the mod req board about a month ago :)

or has lomov never been mentioned on ilm? i didn't think about that one but maybe that's why. okay then i have mentioned him now, he is from hamburg and does some interesting electronic music (i am difficult concerning that kind of stuff, you should know). here is his latest album for your download pleasure.

you can probably still use google to search threads...

go to google, type "site:ilx.wh3rd.net" and then "lomov" and you might get what yr looking for

fuck me, ken, that works perfectly. thank you!

(nb: i've not tried looking for lomov; just for the washing machine thread on ILE i was trying to find earlier.)

google and that other search engine did not yield any results a minute ago.

That Google trick worked on my thread that wouldn't come up in ILM search before. I asked about this on the mod board and was told that it wasn't finding anything before September 2nd at the moment.

For recent threads, if google ain't working, you can just go to the main I Love Music page and click on October or September and look through all the threads for that month.

this is the best search tip you will find here:

USE THE THREAD TITLE SEARCH

Oh please don't speak about this, it was my last nervous breakdown.

Seriously?

k/l (Ken L), Monday, 10 October 2005 17:29 (twenty years ago)

To tell you the truth, yes a bit. Alone in Paris in July, no friends around, no holiday and no ILM...

The reason why even Thread Title search doesn't work sometimes is because threads from a certain point on aren't being archived anymore.. probably due to space limitations.

In that case, your best best is to go to I Love Music:New Questions, and do a "Find" on the word.

If it's not there, go down below and lick on the most recent months, one at a time, until you find it.

I should add that, often, these threads WILL be archived eventually -- usually in the very near future.

It's just that ILM gets into a temporary state where the mods need to reconfigure, backup, etc. so for a small time, most recent threads won't be searchable, whereas older threads will, etc.

Unless there is a server crash, of course, in which case...

k/l (Ken L), Monday, 10 October 2005 18:32 (twenty years ago)

...we blame hstencil.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 October 2005 18:33 (twenty years ago)

There was a server crash like that in early December... I remember because the famous "AND NO ANNE MURRAY!" comment on some 1983 cdr go I did wasn't preserved. Sl0cki and I had to reignite it.

That's what I was referrring to earlier. I don't know how snowballing survived that one unscathed.
