Or so it seems

twas posted and (barely) discussed on the main 'impressions of earth' thread a week or so ago. 'cars-alicious' seemed to be the overriding sentiment. i like it. i hope the rest leaks soon.

jermaine (jnoble), Tuesday, 11 October 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

Doesn't really sound like Casablancas. Maybe it's the lack of effect on the vocals.

This song's not bad -- certainly better than the lafftastic "Juicebox."

Nigel (Nigel), Tuesday, 11 October 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

I like it -- parts of it sound like Unforgettable Fire-era U2. Especially the end.

mrjosh (mrjosh), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 01:19 (twenty years ago)

JULIAN CASBLANCAS IN FUNDRAISER FOR RICK SANTORUM

mrjosh (mrjosh), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 01:19 (twenty years ago)

This is great. A lot better than Juicebox.

kornrulez6969 (TCBeing), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 01:58 (twenty years ago)

better than juicebox

Savin All My Love 4 u (Savin 4ll my (heart) 4u), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 02:20 (twenty years ago)

ysi?

Roxymuzak, Mrs. Carbohydrate (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 02:46 (twenty years ago)

Only 30 seconds into listening and...it could end suddenly at the 1 minute mark and it'd still be better than Juicebox.

Hat (Hat), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 05:11 (twenty years ago)

Pathetic really. The poor band was born without it's own sound and they just continue to mine the past for product. Incredibly boring in concert also.

Vaughn Abbott, Wednesday, 12 October 2005 11:53 (twenty years ago)

I missed the juicebox.

Anyone nice? With the YSI?

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 12:09 (twenty years ago)

willem (willem), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 12:29 (twenty years ago)

both equally ace i think. both better
than almost anything off ROOM ON FIRE.

piscesboy, Wednesday, 12 October 2005 13:08 (twenty years ago)

i think it's FAN-TAS-TIC.

sean gramophone (Sean M), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 13:10 (twenty years ago)

both better than almost anything off ROOM ON FIRE.

naw

Nigel (Nigel), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 13:22 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, they're definitely not better than anything off "Room On Fire", except maybe "Meet Me In The Bathroom".

But nowhere near as good as "The End Has No End" or "Reptilia".

Erock LAzron, Wednesday, 12 October 2005 16:52 (twenty years ago)

I'm liking this much more than Juicebox (which I still can't seem to embrace) and looking forward to a full release.

Incredibly boring in concert also.

I didn't like The Strokes at all until I saw them live at the BDO (Aus music festival). So I uh, disagree.

Hat (Hat), Thursday, 13 October 2005 00:48 (twenty years ago)

I think the chorus is a missed opportunity on this track.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 13 October 2005 01:18 (twenty years ago)

this is brilliant. can't wait for the album now.

Michael B, Thursday, 13 October 2005 03:55 (twenty years ago)

The vocal is actually kind of Stones-y.

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Thursday, 13 October 2005 04:07 (twenty years ago)

Thanks to Willem.!

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 13 October 2005 07:18 (twenty years ago)

its like their previous songs

ahahahaha THE STROKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!, Thursday, 13 October 2005 07:23 (twenty years ago)

I thought Is This It was really fun, but I thought Room On Fire was genius. I don't enjoy this as much, but I think it's great that they're branching out and I think they're doing a fine job of it.

Anthony (scodalupo), Sunday, 16 October 2005 07:45 (twenty years ago)

two weeks pass...
so, for all us poor saps (read, me), who are too slow to catch the leaks, can we (read, me) get them again?

you can contact me via my livejournal (username: molokoman)

harold byron rosen, Saturday, 5 November 2005 02:40 (twenty years ago)

a make-or-break disappointment

marc h. (marc h.), Saturday, 5 November 2005 03:09 (twenty years ago)

I'm loving it. Strokes-bashers are getting BORRRRING...

nancyboy (nancyboy), Saturday, 5 November 2005 16:50 (twenty years ago)

two months pass...
Revie! Just because those of us who are fans will agree (and even a few who aren't): this song *has* to make you smile.

paulhw (paulhw), Friday, 13 January 2006 03:53 (twenty years ago)

it makes me think "why didn't they keep the last guy as producer?"
