"alberms"

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 12:23 (twenty years ago)

I've got the first one ... great harmonies - esp the slower songs - and that unique, slightly harsh tone.

Jez (Jez), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 13:23 (twenty years ago)

also have the first one, though second is very similar. I love the harmonies on these, and you can hear traces of it in lots of other European folk music (esp in Eastern Europe, and up to Finland).

I have the Vol. 2, which is the choral music with the exotic harmonies. I also have the extremely strange From Bulgaria with Love: The Pop Album from 1993, which is the Les Mysteres choir singing over Euro-cheez techno as produced by a gaggle of "the continent's trendiest pop-dance producers" - an abysmal idea no doubt inspired by the popular success of Enigma in 1992. I only have this because I saw it in a dollar bin and couldn't resist.

I have the first three and some mediocre follow up...great music to weed out the friends you have that find dissonance unsettling.

John Justen (johnjusten), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 14:54 (twenty years ago)

I love their bit in that Kate Bush song.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 17:48 (twenty years ago)

Seriously, I've got five or six.
The "official" Nonesuch ones are the definite search.

Me too. I haven't checked out any of their other albums after that, I didn't feel I needed to. Should I?

StanM, Saturday, 14 July 2007 08:57 (eighteen years ago)
