Craptain crunch, Wednesday, 12 October 2005 19:12 (twenty years ago)

Could this be as horrible as the article of the same name?

Reggie, Wednesday, 12 October 2005 19:47 (twenty years ago)

I have huge issues with that article, but I'm gonna bite my tongue for now.

Avi (Avi), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 19:50 (twenty years ago)

i love NYU

Nick Sylvester, Wednesday, 12 October 2005 20:13 (twenty years ago)

and please don't bite your tongue, at least for too long. less definitive, more exploratory

Nick Sylvester, Wednesday, 12 October 2005 20:15 (twenty years ago)

where to start? well, speaking as someone who's been covering the norwegian scene for a number of years, your lack of research astounds me.

Avi (Avi), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 20:23 (twenty years ago)

norwegian scene

please stop

Nick Sylvester, Wednesday, 12 October 2005 20:28 (twenty years ago)

bobby lasers, Wednesday, 12 October 2005 20:32 (twenty years ago)

thanks for the mix, Nick. much appreciated

Jack L., Wednesday, 12 October 2005 20:40 (twenty years ago)

I think Nick's research amounted to going to Norway for a few days. Like the feature says.

scott pl. (scott pl.), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 20:44 (twenty years ago)

gah, get over yourself dude. I only expected a bare minimum of follow-up research. I don't think that's too much to ask.

Avi (Avi), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 20:47 (twenty years ago)

I only expected a bare minimum of follow-up research.

"Was it really that cold? Let's see, www.weather.co.no ... yup. It was cold."

I think the concept of "Big Outside of..." is a bit funny. Like you go to Germany and expect to hear techno everywhere (you don't), you go to Scotland and expect to hear Mylo on every corner (it's not), just as somepeople come to America and expect to hear Arcade Fire or CYHSY on the radio. You don't.

Corporate mainstream yukrock, pop pap and simulacrap run the game everywhere else, just like it does here. Have you seen the German pop 30? yipes. Norway is no different, and in the States? Nickelb**k just topped the US charts with 300,000+ sold. Frightening.

The underground is the underground is the underground.

like: "I realized I was traveling in a pack of about 250 or 300 people, all equally excited for each show"

that's us.

dd_____ (dayvidday), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 21:46 (twenty years ago)

I like some pop pap and definitely want to hear some of this simulacrap!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 21:47 (twenty years ago)

sleep (sleep), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 21:52 (twenty years ago)

Radio is unsatisfying.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 21:55 (twenty years ago)

poortheatre (poortheatre), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 23:06 (twenty years ago)

aaron d.g. (aaron d.g.), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 23:22 (twenty years ago)

This is neat, thanks!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 23:28 (twenty years ago)

Something's rotten in Norway.

But seriously, I thought it was a good article. Nick isn't presenting himself as the Dean of Norway rock crit.

Brooker B, Thursday, 13 October 2005 00:50 (twenty years ago)

yeah thanks for the new music!
