saw the former on itv2 last night, it's a fly-on-the-waller abt the aloud. footage of them going back home and buying flash cars. nicola is a socialist, as i had suspected. poignant at times. not much focus on the music.

I'm guessing Dylan's legs aren't as good

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 13 October 2005 08:54 (twenty years ago)

nicola is also the hottest < /redhead bias>

N_RQ, Thursday, 13 October 2005 08:56 (twenty years ago)

And that old bearded guy just can't dance, so I guess GA wins verys easily.

What old bearded guy?

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 13 October 2005 08:58 (twenty years ago)

the aloud also said their new elpee had sounds that had 'never existed before', which i don't think the zim-meister could ever claim.

N_RQ, Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:00 (twenty years ago)

Sounds like they consider Stockhausen to be their true competitor not Dylan, innit?

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:02 (twenty years ago)

Did Scorsese direct, or did they have to settle for Val Guest?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:04 (twenty years ago)

as we know, auteurism is rockist, but peter watkins made it as a kind of remake of 'privilege'.

N_RQ, Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:08 (twenty years ago)

Ronald Neame was unavailable I take it?

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:09 (twenty years ago)

"What old bearded guy?"
Dylan doesn't have a beard these days ? Still, I have never seen him doing anything worth on the dancing side.
Give up the guitar and learn to dance, Zimmy.

snowballing (snowballing), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:11 (twenty years ago)

I don't even know if Val Guest is still alive - if he is he must be about 140 by now - but he did direct that masterpiece of forward-thinking British cinema, Cannon And Ball Are The Boys In Blue.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:12 (twenty years ago)

He's a "song and dance" man, he said so himself (xpost)

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:13 (twenty years ago)

So are Tommy Cannon and Bobby Ball!

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:14 (twenty years ago)

Val Guest is 140
Lewis Gilbert is 128
Ronald Neame is 167
Guy Ritchie is 37

post
Maybe he once was, but he even stopped waltzing in the seventies.

snowballing (snowballing), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:14 (twenty years ago)

as nicola told it, life really did 'get cold' when she signed up. no more teenage kicks.

N_RQ, Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:14 (twenty years ago)

"In a very real way, Nicola gave up teenage kicks for high kicks..." *Simon Callow voiceover*

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:15 (twenty years ago)

I believe that Dylan had Suzanne Danielle in mind when he wrote the title track of Shot Of Love.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:23 (twenty years ago)

they shd have titled it: 'you dream of touching me there: the girls aloud story', tbf.

N_RQ, Thursday, 13 October 2005 13:55 (twenty years ago)

what? i so can't believe i didn't see this.

piscesboy, Thursday, 13 October 2005 21:52 (twenty years ago)

the aloud also said their new elpee had sounds that had 'never existed before', which i don't think the zim-meister could ever claim.

Let's hope that fans of the Girls' old sounds don't take to screaming "Judas!" at their concerts.

John Hunter, Thursday, 13 October 2005 22:32 (twenty years ago)

Hey Piscesboy, I taped this on olde worlde VHS (along with the Charlotte Church doc from earlier this week) so I'll lend you it after I've watched it. Remind me on Sunday and I'll hand it over.
