Whenever i hear Yo La Tengo's "Did I Tell You" I kinda imagine it being sung by Kermit. Which is nice.

tylerw, Thursday, 13 October 2005 14:53 (twenty years ago)

If we're going to start listing songs we're imagining are sung by Kermit, then we might as well list the entire Dave Matthews Band catalog and lock the thread.

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Thursday, 13 October 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

Everything by Canned Heat sounds like Kermit.

And I can seriously imagine Miss Piggy singing "Milkshake," with Kermit in the frenzied short-order cook role and Gonzo dinging the triangle.

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Thursday, 13 October 2005 16:10 (twenty years ago)

And I can seriously imagine Miss Piggy singing "Milkshake," with Kermit in the frenzied short-order BBQ cook role and Gonzo dinging the pink pork triangle.

You sick bastard!

rentboy (rentboy), Thursday, 13 October 2005 16:12 (twenty years ago)

oh yeah - walter kranz otm. arthur russell's muppet would be the most complex muppet persona ever!

steve ketchup, Saturday, 15 October 2005 15:30 (twenty years ago)

The last song on T Rex's Electric Warrior, called "The Ripoff" sounds EXACTLY, I swear to god EXACTLY like a song the Electric Mayhem would've sung on the Muppet Movie. It's close to a point that I'm wondering if the Muppet band was designed around that song.

Develop your photos or else, Saturday, 15 October 2005 15:35 (twenty years ago)

Tangential question: what's the name of that Muppet (or Muppet-adopted) song that has no lyrics, but one voice goes "doot-doo, da-doo-doo," and the second voice goes "ma-nah ma-nah"? They're using it in a commercial these days, and I heard it on WFMU this morning. But I want to know the name so I can buy or download it.

Many songs by Budgie and early Rush

Bill Magill, Friday, 13 November 2009 14:10 (sixteen years ago)

Well the lyrics are not precisely fit, but the intro/chorus to Lykke Li's Breaking it Up with the pitched multitracked vocals always remind me of the Muppets.

Also would love to suggest Feist since I've always found a certain maternal quality about her music, but she rightfully made it to the show already.

Oh I also have trouble not thinking about Kermit the frog when I listen to Sam Amidon. At first it sort of ruined his music for me but it gradually won me over.

Rowlf the Dog could rock pretty much every Tom Waits song ever like his own. I kind of think of them as being pretty interchangeable in general.

Everything ever released by Animal Collective, MGMT, Flaming Lips, Grandaddy and any other indie band with a weak fake Brian Wilson/Neil Young singer of the past 10 years. If you can imagine the Muppets singing it without too much effort, it's probably shit.
