So I keep reading about this label, and it sounds like just my sort of thing. But is it? And if so, where should I start? There's a mixed best-of that seems to have been made for Americans - should I get this, or will I regret it later when I want all the compilations? Please help.

Also use this thread to generally discuss IDG.

Crossover - Fantasmo album sounded great from what I heard of it in a shop a coupla days ago. Glam electro alternately warm and aloof (sense of fun) from what I could tell. So much so that I bought it as a gift for a friend instead of Felix Da Housecat CD, along with the luvverly Playgroup record of course.

Need to hear it all the way thru to be sure...

The American Gigolo mix by DJ Tiga is also being released in Europe now (or at least in the Benelux). It's a great mix and features almost all the stuff the label is currently famous for (personal favorite: sunglasses at night by Tiga & Zyntherius) combined with some of the older stuff (like "i'm a disco dancer" by Christopher Just or even Jeff Mills). Very recommendable.

If you want to start with the beginning and build it from there: buy the 5 International Deejay Gigolo compilations...

Great sound, great label, great DJ (DJ Hell's sets are worth listening to)...

What Johan said. That mix-cd is the shit. I'm working on my adjectives for the upcoming kindamuzik review. ;) Great label with a good sense of humour. Some good albums from Japanese Telecom, Miss Kittin & The Hacker and of course the utterly essential Dopplereffekt compilation. And yes it's your sort of thing Tim. no doubt.

eleven years pass...

just found the boxset that puts the labels first four compilations together for a couple of quid.

dated badly, or time for a revisit ?

i still think that stuff like 'i'm a disco dancer' sounds fantastic.
