This is the thread where you name the dance singles which are getting played wherever you go. Or which you have downloaded. Or whatever. It's probably worth pointing out my tastes aren't particularly obscure, and I don't claim them to be, house music, breakbeat, and perhaps some techno if I'm feeling bold.

Junior Jack-Thrill Me. Have any of you heard this?
It's actually only coming out but it's been getting played alot by my friend, who is a big(ish) DJ over here. (thats all the name dropping I'll do). The story goes that Vito (Junior Jack) is a friend of Felix Da Housecat and in the summer he flew over to see Felix play. He came in and it was near the end of the set and he gave Felix the record he'd just made and Felix put it on. Apparently the place went mental. Erick "dickhead" Morillo was there and basically said "done, signed, I want it".
So it's out now on subliminal, in the charts at number 30 this week.
It's a class song though, right from the ripped up string noises at the start to the Daft Punk bassline in the middle. House music doesn't get much better in my opinion.
X-Press 2 featuring David Byrne-Lazy.
Ok I realise I've mentioned this before, but this song is absolutely brilliant. One hundred percent amazing. Lyrically aswell as musically, which is not always the case with dance music.
It's worth noting that this is completely unlike anything X-Press 2 have done before ever. AC/DC was a good club track a few years ago and an UNDERGROUND SUCCESS. Smoke Machine was a "good club track" last year and an UNDERGROUND SUCCESS. But this is going to be absolutely massive. It's out on March 8th as far as I know, but if you have to spend all day on your computer trying to find it for download (as I did) then do it do it do it.
It's a bit similar to that remix of Bent that was flying around last year, if any of you are familiar with that.
Also I hardly need to say that "Lazy" (along with Compass by Dave Clarke, which has a great Josh Wink remix incidentally) is the best thing Skint have released in fucking ages.
Next.
Basement Jaxx-Get Me Off-Superchumbo remix.
The original is brilliant and possibly my favourite song of Rooty. This remix basically hardens the initial riff (if that's possible) and fucks around with the vocals quite a bit. As remixes go I guess it's not a HUGE reworking, but it does give the track something in a club that it didn't quite have before.
Of course the whistle type part at the end of Get Me Off is a beautiful moment anyway.
More later. Sorry if this is all irrelevent spouting off, I just have a lot to say about these songs.

Jon Carter-Everlasting Life
This is a sort of dirty house type song. Although I think you can hear the echoes of Monkey Mafia in there somewhere, in the best possible way. And then there's the lovely dancehall lyrics about Mount Kilamanjaro (oh dear sp?) and "rock of gibraltar". The only thing is that this is not really here nor there in terms of what time of the night you want to hear it at. It's sort of downtempo a little. I guess Carter is being selfish in the sense that I can only imagine him fitting it into one of HIS sets.
Next.........
Green Velvet-La La Land (Dave Clarke remix)
I love the original of this song however as part of the type of sets I tend to go and see it just wouldn't work. Only because, like Felix Da Housecat also, it's very 80s and a little slow, and would sound out of place.
This is a great remix, it makes it a track you'd play at the very very top of the night. Of course the lyrics are particularly funny anyway. I guess this is an old track to include here but I still like it.
Another old track.
Agent Sumo-24 Hours (another old song)
I always associate this song with Junior Jack-Thrill Me, as mentioned earlier. They both have these really frenetic disco string build ups which are then replaced with a big thumping bassline. The sample "you know everybody's talkin bout the good old days" always seems to suddenly leap out and announce the start of the song. I love the fact that a track like this can be really really funky and yet not aimlessly so, it's still got a good hard core to it. (hardocore woooo).

Have you heard about the Paddys Day weekend? Layo and Bushwacka Friday, Fatboy Slim Saturday, Jon Carter Sunday, Dave Clarke Monday.
Woohoo! 4 nights in a row, I may die at the end, but it will be the best (and most expensive) weekend ever.
My good DJ friend will as ever get me into some stuff for free though, thanks be to god.
Max Linen-Soulshaker
Ok this is so cheesey and I completely admit it. It's also a little old now. However this was good for a while, basically starts off really uptempo with a pretty straightforward house intro which then builds into a slightly odd verse with a deep voiced man introducing himself as the soulshaker. (Yes I did say it was cheesey). Eventually it ends up as a sort of short funk bassline with sirens wailing over it. I also like this in a sort of throwaway kind of way, particularly the parts where the guy screams "can you feel me on the tip of your tongue, SWALLOW". Oh dear though it is complete cheese.
Shit I had more to do but I can't remember them. I'll do them later, you can all hardly wait.

That Stanton Warriors track featuring Da Empress is really classic.
