I'm still puzzled as to why the title to this was amended. I love that this did so well because it acts like a short-circuit between garage's pop and dancehall inclinations. On this song they are the same thing. Perhaps not so surprising if it happened today though...

I gave Andy Locked On Lewis feedback to the effect that "Movin' Too Fast" would be unlikely to hit cos of the "get yer dirty hands off me" lyric, but that classic chiming melody's like Yazoo/Depeche in slo-mo or something. still not a personal fave though.

I think I asked this on another thread, but does anyone know the story behind this and Industry Standard's "What You Want"? The latter appears to be a cutup of the former, but which actually came first?
Alslo, anyone feel like turning this into a(nother) YSI thread?

I thought "finally I can hear what this speed garage stuff is all about". cos (from here in the states) I'd checked some of the UK major label comps and found them to contain a few speed tracks and a whole bunch of plain ol' house. besides it was on Breakdown, Dan Donnelly's Drum & Bass Selection label!
so I tried to order it for A YEAR! finally found a copy, on a visit to UK, in a returns warehouse in Croydon... and it was a revelation! many of the tracks are classics (still haven't found "Deeper" on vinyl, though Simon has a copy!) as are EZ's selection & mix. got it in late '98, right at the time that the next wave: Dem 2, Ramsey & Fen, Groove Chronicles, KMA, et al were breaking thru so there was no question of anything other than total devotion to this music.

Quite big at the time, deep 4/4 garage - more transatlantic rather than specific UK style. Maybe a bit too smooth and 'washed out' though.
― Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 21 October 2005 15:06 (twenty years ago)
Liked this one a lot though - early 2-step, stripped like 'Sincere' but even more subtle, tranquil and smooth. Check that quibbly bassline.

On Monday, Lady Sovereign, pin-up of the grime scene - the much-touted British offshoot of American rap - will play in London. But where?

― James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Friday, 28 October 2005 00:42 (twenty years ago)
Chancellor Gordon Brown is apparently a big fan of the underground garage-influenced 'grime' music of Lady Sovereign.
Mr Brown - who is likely to be Britain's Prime Minister when Tony Blair steps down before the next election - is said to have told the MC of his devotion at a recent get together to promote enterprise for young people.
Lady Sov told us: "I only spoke to him quickly, as he's a busy guy, but he commented on my music and said he's a fan.
"He said he's paying attention to what I'm up to, which is weird coming from Gordon Brown.
"He did all the talking - I could hardly get a word out! He's alright."
