"A Berlin-based musician's collective called Zeitkratzer has plans to perform Lou Reed's 1975 critical disaster "Metal Machine Music" in a live setting next month. According to the Australian music site Undercover, the band will use "a time-coded score which was transposed from Reed's original electronic music" to recreate the four-sided monstrosity that even Reed himself has famously written off ("Anyone who gets to side four is dumber than I am," Reed has been quoted as saying. "I did get to side four, but I got paid for it.") Reed is said to have released the album as a means of breaking his contract with RCA Records. Nonetheless, Zeitkratzer are following through with their tribute, which will be held in Berlin on March 17th, and in Venice on March 20th."

Actually, after I check some of the other threads I'll go and play this (after playing haino and borbetomagus with my breakfast! I love saturdays).
I read in the new wire (boring sonic youth on the cover BUT contains a nice dig at david keenan from Ben watson: excellent stuff) that Reed will be personally attending these shows. What a turnaround!

This has taken a few moons to come out hasn't it? I got to hear bits of it and it wasn't particularly hitting me, maybe bcz I'm a bit bored by Zeitkratzer now.
