They opened for Lightning Bolt on their last US swing, I'm still kicking myself for missing that one. So if they play yr town it's probably best to hop on the jitney and get there. It might be the difference between seeing a Suckdog & Costes show and listening to a Suckdog & Costes record. Ah, probably not. Does anybody around here even remember Suckdog & Costes?

yeah, I was at Mono. It was the fifth time I've seen them, and the worst, although it was still fantastic. The new songs are very different but still great, although the performance this time didn't quite reach the on-the-edge-of-collapse insanity I've come to expect.
The AMA album appears from my first few listens to be good, sounding both like both bands at their most abstract and like something completely different.

But fear not cuz that video is up on You Tube, for the song "afrirampo", it's wonderful. It's like a DJ Jazzy Jeff video gone all Boredoms. Looks like the had a heck of a fun time making it:

Anybody hear the new album??
― Jack Burton, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 06:59 (eighteen years ago)
I just got it today. It all flows together and the last 10 minutes are great, some of their best material. Need to hear the rest more. Plenty of repetition, the average song length is about 6 minutes. I like the colorful artwork! One major complaint is that there are some really gorgeous parts (like, most of the final two songs) interrupted by static-y compression noise.
― xox, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 07:18 (eighteen years ago)
just the snippet of the title track on their myspace, which sounds good. not released in the u.s., right?

― Jack Burton, Thursday, 29 November 2007 21:27 (eighteen years ago)
suuto breakor is a really cool album. never really gets too raucous and has some great guitar lines

They were pretty astonishing at Mono in Glasgow on Tuesday. Anyone else there? Actually quite garagey, and although they're wild performers, it certainly isn't just chaos.Haven't got around to listening to the disc yet.

Hope people are still paying attention to Afrirampo.
They were performing on and off 2016-2019. I hope they start again post-virus.
They play lots from newest album (Afriverse) but also old favourites too. Many concerts open with 'Miracle Lucky Girls'.
Just as talented, just as attractive, just as awe-inspiring as before.

ulysses, have you actually seen them live? What was the experience like? Please tell details if you actually were at an Afrirampo concert.

The video for "Afrirampo" (self-titled song) has tickled me for a long time. Does anybody here have any idea what they're singing about, besides their name? I would love an English translation.
