C'mon people, stimulate me a little. Jarman or Jonze... who kicks more than a bit of pseudo-intellectual ass when it comes to short/medium form videos... Jarman or Jonze... or somebody else. Don't pull any Tarsem shit on me here...

Since no one else has yet, I've got to put in a good word for Spike Jonze. The man is the master. I went through a period of my life in which I watched the video for "Sabotage" at least once a day. Sad but true.

Michael Gondry has done some great Bjork music videos. Although I must admit I don't like Bjork (you can kill me for blasphemy now), I do like her videos. Jonze did a video or two for her as well.

jarman made some awful clips for The Smiths

Awful? Well maybe if your definition of awful is "sweet, charming, and perfect." 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out' is one of the most beautiful videos you'll come across.

I like Floria Sigismondi's videos

what videos has derek jarman done? it would take quite a feat to derail the general superbitude of spike jonez's videos - what was the one with that guy running on fire in slow motion? is the new white stripes video the one with legos? that is so cool!!!! don't care for the song so much but the video rocks me like the proverbial hurricane.

one year passes...
Michel Gondry is the correct answer. See his Chemical Brothers videos and be blown away. Then again, it helps to have a brother who owns a special effects company. But the man's still a genius, with or without that.

Was the fire guy in that Wax video 'Southern California'?

That was a pretty great one, I remember the guy checking his watch as he ran along... he wasn't running cos he was ON FIRE, he was running cos he was LATE.
