ADMIN: ILX Homepage/Links Page

I'm finally going to put an ILX homepage and linkpage on Freaky Trigger. This will feature:

- links to the forums and search boxes for the forums

- a brief intro piece and FAQ (which will be collaborative)

- a links page to all the regulars' sites

- brief biographies (which will include the links again) (no photos cos of bandwidth)

The first priority is to do the links page and the main page - biographies and FAQ are secondary, ongoing, fun things. So what I need you to do, if you want to be included, is to send the site(s) you want included to me, and you can throw in a 30-word biography if you want. PLEASE USE THE E-MAIL ADDRESS BELOW (emergencytom@hotmail.com) as my home e-mail is to say the least erratic.

you don't need to put photos up, because you can just get them to link to pictures directly, i mean, you don't actually need to host them do you?

Oh yeah, duh. Except you can't internal link to geocities photos can you?

Or lots of others. I bet there's some clever Kodanshi javascript way around this, given that copy-pasting the direct jpg address into the address bar usually works.

Two questions:
1. Why don't we post the links here?
2. What do you mean by biography Tom? An autobiography of the person behind, a biography of the site or just some words what the site is about?

geocities or yahoo people would have to find a way around it, but the others would have no problems

And angelfire.

Does anyone know a good free webhost that allows external linking to photos?

grafitti.net shouldn't have a hassle with it.

Everyone who looks at the board regularly is a 'regular' I reckon, posting frequency doesnt matter.

JUST FOR TOM. I repeat my post from up-thread:
Two questions:
1. Why don't we post the links here?
2. What do you mean by biography Tom? An autobiography of the person behind, a biography of the site or just some words what the site is about?

alex in mainhattan, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

1. because it's easier for me to get stuff via hotmail and be sure that the people sending them don't want a link from my site. Threads of links are inefficient and easily lost.

2. just a few words - no restrictions but keep it fairly short

Thank you for adding my blog to the links section of the ILM/ILE community front page Tom. Could you just change (Alex in Manhattan) to (Alex in Mainhattan) please! Mainhattan=Frankfurt!

On a related technical subject. It would be great to have the NYLPM archive links somewhere on the NYLPM page. Right now all the stuff that falls off the main page is buried in archives like this nice piece on Lambchop's latest without any link leading to it. That is a little bit like putting all your jewels into the safe, closing it and immediately forgetting the number combination. What a pity.
