has anyone else been as mad keen on the 'coming at ya' 12" as me? (sorry if i'm sounding like a mowax pimp. it's just a tangent i took and didn't regret.) p.s. hello, just found you today.

hey! welcome!

i have to say, i'm not a howie b fan (maybe you could tell me whats good?), or even a mo'wax fan (although i did like the dj assault album and also Peshays remix of Rob Ds Clubbed to Death) on mowax. oh, and the sukia album too

truth told i don't like (or know) much other howie b. stuff, but skelf strikes a chord. he's lost the sampler and has gone all lo-fi with a drum machine and 2 sequencers. coming at ya was recorded live in one take. it's all primitive bass a-pounding + clattery detroit drums + a bit of hissing/fuzzing/spluttering, and to these ears it's fresh.

What is skelf?

It's been a while since I listened, but I loved Skylab's #1 and much of Turn Off the Dark, his mostly big beat album.

Hurrah! And you've made the Melbourne people happy. Fear not, you'll find some Avalanches lovers here as well.
